Three Shiny Pretties of the Weekend
1. To my surprise, I have gotten annoyingly addicted to Gwen Stefani's "Wind It Up". I've never been completely fond of her solo work, but this song has grown on me; partially because it's an homage to Sound of Music (a childhood favorite of mine) and both of the song and the music video for it is hilarious. At first I didn't know whether to be amused or despise it, but I actually kind of like it. Heh.

2. My thoughts on Friday's Battlestar Galactica:
BSG - 3.09 - "Unfinished Business"

Ah, the sexual tension rises once again between Lee Adama and Kara Thrace. What better way to resolve this by having them beating each other up with their sexual frustration? Personally, I could've done without the flashbacks going in and out since there was so much drama going on between them (almost resulting into becoming like a normal annoying LOST episode, in that manner), but I liked how Kara's hair was in those flashbacks. The secret sex in the middle of the forest bit was also nice, and the shouting-out-their-love matches almost seemed very lovesick as seen in the the movies. But it was a nice touch. For Kara, it was obvious she was having second thoughts about admitting her love for Lee and she was, of course, going to back down and go back to Sam in those flashbacks.

Honestly, I like both the relationships of Lee/Kara and Sam/Kara. This episode emphasized the animosity between Lee and Kara and the ongoing question of why they weren't together and how their tension grew. Now we know, and now there may be some resolution between them. But not between Kara and Sam or Lee and Dee, since it seems to have that theme of "I got married but to the wrong person". So it should be interesting to see as that progresses. Oy, the drama!

Laura Roslin ruled, hardcore. The flashbacks with her and Adama was amazing, especially with being flirtatious with each other, getting high in celebration and having the implied sex on New Caprica. Also the the present with Roslin having speaking with much attentive glee about watching boxing matches and giving advice to Adama as he entered the ring. Much love. Also, Adama fighting against Chief? That was awesome.

But back to the flashbacks, it was also the return of the porn!stache!

Aside from Athena, no Cylons this episode. Which is understandable since this wasn't furthering to the major overall plot of the season. This was more of character development and resolution of things, particularly between Lee and Kara. I'm not going to say I liked it, but it was enjoyable for the most part.

But I loved the folk/Celtic-influenced music throughout this episode. I just loved hearing it, even when they were doing montages between flashbacks and to present time. Which reminds me, I should totally get the soundtracks for everything Battlestar Galactica; from the mini-series to the second season. Because DAMN, the score is fantastic.

3. Three weeks until Christmas Eve. Three frakking weeks. Where the hell was I when this happened? Boggles the mind, I tell you.

I LOVED Laura in Unfinished Business. It's funny, because I didn't care for her that much in the miniseries or the beginning of season one, but she's grown on me so much since then!

Personally, I could've done without the flashbacks going in and out since there was so much drama going on between them (almost resulting into becoming like a normal annoying LOST episode, in that manner), but I liked how Kara's hair was in those flashbacks.

I still can't decide how I felt about the flashbacks - initially I loved them, because of the Adama/Roslin scenes and the Lee/Kara scenes and, well, I'm a shipper, but upon rewatching I feel a bit more iffy towards them. But Kara's hair was gorgeous, wasn't it? She just looked so pretty in the flashbacks!

Aside from Athena, no Cylons this episode.

Like you, I can understand this - but I still wish it weren't so. I LOVE the Cylons, all of them, and I wish we could have gotten at least a short scene with them. Even if it would have been fairly jarring when compared to the rest of the story.

Three weeks until Christmas Eve.

Oh, I know! It's utterly insane that it's so close - it feels like time just flew by. And I haven't bought most of my presents or even finished my Christmas cards, so I suspect in the next week I'll have to run around hopelessly trying to get things done.

(I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to it. I LOVE that rush right before Christmas happens.)

The Cylons should've at least gotten some screentime, I agree. Like in the last episode with Number Three and her going through those bizarre dreamscapes. I mean, at least show us some Six/Gaius scenes --- hell, even with the Gaius on New Caprica could've had the Six in his head talking to him. But, yeah, it wouldn't have matched the episode setup of the flashbacks. Still, more Cylons please!

Goodness, me too. I still have to start the decorating, but I've already made out some Christmas cards to family and friends. There's something about the adrenaline of Christmas --- it's all in the spirit, not the horribly stressfulness like schoolwork. It's that high you get for doing something nice for others. I like that warm fuzzy feeling.
