Friends help each other out.
Because I've seen this everywhere and I felt hey, why not?

I have acquired quite a handful of new folks from friending memes, many of which we share common interests in a particular fandom but otherwise we don't communicate about anything else. I'd like to change that into me asking you to ask me anything about myself to get to know me better. Same with some of my older friends who have drifted apart for some reason, I'd like to rekindle that by doing this meme.
The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.
Anyone, new friends and old friends, ask away. Fandom, real life, anything at all. Don't be shy! I don't bite maybe nibble just a little.

My greatest dream...to be very successful in life with whatever I choose to do and be proud of what I have accomplished. Kinda cliche, but that's definitely the biggest dream I have had for quite some time. For my life to mean something, to have everything I have done over the years to be worth everything in the end.

In five years, I want to be independently wealthy and living on my own in this huge, glorious house, perhaps a mansion. Because you KNOW I will make it big. That's more hopeful wishing really.

But honestly I don't know where I'll be in five years. I do plan ahead for my future in that sense, and I do want that slightly impractical and unrealistic dream of mine to come true at some point. But as for right now I'm more or less attempting to reaching that goal of becoming very successful and happy about whatever career I end up with in that future. Anything can happen between here and then that can alter my life.

what do you want out of life?
Renée: Hyori Lee.rogueslayer452 on October 20th, 2009 11:43 pm (UTC)
I want my life to mean something. I want to be able to make a difference and for whatever I do in life, whatever I choose as a permanent career or for my family and others, to be remembered. I don't want my life to just wither away and fall through the cracks, I don't want to be that miserable person who had done many things but none of it meant anything. I want there to be something to be proud of accomplishing so I can look back at my entire life and go, hey, that's what I did. I am happy and proud of what I had done.

It's really hard to articulate how I feel about that precisely, so I hope this answer comes out understandable. ;)

yes, this. i think this is something universal, something most of us feel - the need to accomplish something, to be remembered, for our lives to mean something, the need to be able to look back and be satisfied with what we see. i suppose it's just one of those things, making a difference, being remembered.

What is one song and one movie that you can just listen to and watch over and over again? Or that you turn on when you're having one of those days?
Renée: Six. Relaxation.rogueslayer452 on October 21st, 2009 08:12 am (UTC)
Oh God, this is actually tough. For the first question there are a variety of songs and movies that I can have on repeat. With songs it's a default that if I like a certain song I play it on a loop for days at a time. I think the one that I'm continuously playing since I heard it like, what, last year is Bear McCreary's rendition of "All Along The Watchtower" from BSG. That will never get old, not matter how many times I play it.

For the second question, if I'm having one of "those days" I generally turn to my "feel good" collection of shows/movies. You know, Gilmore Girls, Glee, Dharma & Greg, any kind of those fluffy films. Especially if I'm feeling down or had a bad day I can always look to those for a pick-me-up.

What was your dream career growing up, and has it changed since then?
Renée: Justin/Alex. Hugs.rogueslayer452 on October 21st, 2009 08:16 am (UTC)
I wanted to be a variety of things growing up, it always changed depending on my mood. But mainly I wanted to be a famous ballerina and travel the world helping people recycle by single-handedly picking up trash.

Well, the latter definitely has changed, I don't think I could do that (even though I do recycle myself, that part still stands of course). But the ballerina thing has remained the same....I am a dancer. I love dancing, have studied and taken classes in various of dance styles actually. While I am not in a company yet I do plan on entering one again, mainly in ballet. Because I love ballet.

I think there are groups that you can join to help pick up trash and plant trees, stuff like that. You could always be the one that starts one that goes around the world lol.

I think I pretty much only know you through fandom-stuff, so... what are you doing right now (school wise, job wise, etc)? What part of the world do you live in? What's the most important thing in your life right now? :)
Renée: Echo. Save Dollhouse.rogueslayer452 on October 21st, 2009 08:23 am (UTC)
Right now, I'm on my job-hunt in my particular career. I am a certified massage therapist, having been trained since last year for nine months. The only problem is that there aren't really a lot of places locally where I am that are hiring massage therapists. I tried for one place recently, but that was a no-go, so it's back to the drawing board. I'm also thinking of returning to school to get my associate's degree as well as contemplating on maybe possibly wanting a PhD, but that's all in the works right now in my brain.

I live in California, born and raised. Part of me wants to go elsewhere but another part of me says no, California is your home, no other state is like your state. Which is kinda true, in a sense.

The most important thing in my life right now? Firstly, getting a job with great hours, for starters. But also, family. Being closer to family to be more specific. :)

How many languages do you speak/read/understand?

What was your favourite subject in high school?
Renée: Dean/Castiel. Personal space.rogueslayer452 on October 21st, 2009 08:30 am (UTC)
Other than English, I can speak Spanish, I know a little bit of French and I can understand Dutch/German. I also know a teeny-tiny bit of Vietnamese. I'm actually planning on learning many other languages, because I find them so fascinating. It's my goal to speak or at least understand all the languages in the world...even though that seems impossible to achieve, I want to do it.

As for high school, lol. I don't have any fond memories of high school, I hated the place actually, so favorite classes are kinda slim to none.

Though during senior year I liked attending this extracurricular club I was part of, which added to my credits which allowed me to graduate. I also loved my English teacher then, and I liked my math teacher because he actually got me to understand and actually like geometry/trigonometry. Otherwise, high school was pure hell for me so it affected how I felt about classes in general.

Understand all the languages in the world? There must be, what, over six thousand of them, so that's a good lifelong project! :)

As for school - oh, I'm sorry! How did you end up as a massage therapist?
Renée: Castiel. Guardian angel.rogueslayer452 on October 21st, 2009 11:23 am (UTC)
Misha would be so proud of me if I accomplished that lifelong goal. *g*

Aww, there's nothing to be sorry for. Some people had good high school experiences, some didn't. I was one of the unfortunate ones where high school was literally Hell. I would never want to repeat that experience ever again. Ever.

I decided to train to become a massage therapist because I was interested in the craft and I was told by numerous of people that I would make for a great therapist. So I applied and got into a vocation school, studied immensely hard for nine months during my training process, getting the basics of the field, and voila. Certified, bb. Trouble is finding a stable place of work unless of course, I could have my own private practice, which is very tempting not gonna lie.

What's the first book that had an influence beyond pure entertainment on you?

If you had to/could be anyone you want for one day - who would you choose to be?
Renée: Slytherclaw. Thinking is dangerous.rogueslayer452 on October 21st, 2009 11:18 am (UTC)
During high school I was very deeply into Lord of the Flies and To Kill A Mockingbird. They were perhaps the only two required reading materials in school that I actually read ahead and finished before the rest of the class, because I was so intrigued with them. I wanted to know what happened. We also had deep discussions in class, particularly with To Kill A Mockingbird that really got me thinking. It really affected me and is now one of my favorite books.

As for books in my spare time that changed my life in such a profound manner, definitely the Harry Potter series. They are part of my transition where I was in a difficult place in my life and the books really helped me through that time.

And if I could be anyone for a day...I don't know about in real life, that one is quite tricky. But for fictional characters I would want to be someone powerful and kickass, like Buffy Summers or Faith or hell, Wonder Woman. And just for shits and giggles I wouldn't mind being Castiel for a day so I could be making out with Dean so that Dean/Castiel can be canonical. ;p

What's the one album/song/musician (or group)/all of the above that you can't see yourself not loving in ten years?
Renée: Castiel. Adorkable.rogueslayer452 on October 22nd, 2009 12:33 pm (UTC)
Wow, that's a toughie. There are a lot of artists that I'll love no matter what and will never stop loving, almost by default. Britney Spears for example, despite all of what's happened with her I still have a soft spot for the girl. I'll also never stop loving Namie Amuro, because she's such a darling, being in the business for such a long time and still going strong now, I'll never stop loving her. And the Backstreet Boys, since I have a feeling they'll still be going strong ten years from now.

But yeah, I don't know. I have many that I still hold close to my heart that, even in ten years if they disband or retire or something bad happens, I'll never stop loving/listening to them or get tired of them. It's not easy tearing me away from music that I love.
