Day 25: "Who is next on my list?"
Day 25 - A show you plan on watching (old or new)

Right now all my major shows are on hiatus or it seems like they might be in their last season come this next seasonal run (or that I might consider leaving if things turn to shit...), and it's kind of sad that I don't have enough to watch these days. So I'm definitely looking for other shows to watch and I've had some on a list already that I've been meaning to check out.

Fringe

I watched a random episode earlier this year and I really liked what I saw. Fringe has that element of The X-Files which has peaked my interest of having science fiction mysteries and intriguing plot twists and surreal cases. Only from what I've read about it and what I've seen, anyway. I've also heard great things about it from people on my f-list so I'm going to put in some time to download at least the first episode and see how I like the setup from the beginning. I'll let others know when that happens, because I'm sure there's plenty of people that would love to hear my thoughts on the show.

Haven

Haven is a new supernatural drama that'll be airing July 9th on the SciFi Channel. It's inspired by one of Stephen King's novels, which if it's anything like it's advertised will definitely be right up my alley of shows. From the previews it is a mixture of Eureka without the comedy element, it has a darker atmosphere with a particular mystery so I can't wait to see what it'll be like.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Since many have recommended it, I've decided to give this show a try. I actually watched the first episode the other day and I thought it was very funny and the setup of the universe was intriguing if anything. Of course, I only know about Avatar: The Last Airbender from what I've read up on it and through the controversy surrounding the live action movie. But from what I've heard the series is quite good, better than some would suspect, and the universe is very well-created from what I've read of the background so, yeah. I'm slowly going to be making my way through the series. I might end up downloading because they rerun the episodes kind of out of order. So far, I'm liking what I'm seeing.

Sanctuary

It's interesting because I didn't have the desire to watch this show until most recently, mostly because of what I heard people talking about it (mostly thanks to you, my dear flist). And I have to admit while I didn't watch Stargate extensively I kind of like seeing Amanda Tapping in a different role other than Sam Carter. That, and she looks amazing as a brunette. Also, what I find interesting is that the show has Christopher Heyerdahl who played Alastair in the fourth season of Supernatural! Small world, eh? So yeah, it's kind of gotten my interest recently. I'm definitely planning on checking it out, just to see whether or not I'll like it.

Other shows include: Community, which is a new show that I've seen people rave about, Band of Brothers and Jericho and mostly that's because Richard Speight Jr. is in them, and I plan on watching everything he was in for the sake of it, lol. Nevertheless I've heard great things about both shows, so I'll certainly be looking forward to testing them out. I've also been meaning to watch Deadwood, too. Oh, and Merlin, since post-Legend of the Seeker I need to fill that fantasy-based void, you know?

Wow, that's a lot of shows right there. I didn't realize how much I wanted to see until I wrote it all out, heh. And hey, if anyone else has any other recommendations, feel free to drop them by. I'm willing to give anything a chance if it strikes my interest.

Masterlist of days here.

I LOVE Fringe. I liked it from the start but it didn't hit it's stride until the end of season 1 and season 2 just builds on that. I may check out Haven when it premires since it'll be airing with Eureka which I already watch. You should definitely check out both Band of Brothers and Jericho. Band of Brothers is completely brilliant and Jericho is very enjoyable. And I ADORE Merlin but I know some people who just couldn't get into it.

Well I did see an episode from the second season so, even if the show starts off a bit slow I know it'll be good nonetheless.

Oh yes, I watch Eureka too. I can't wait to see James Callis on it! :D

I remember when they had promos for Jericho but I never did catch it when it aired. And yes, Merlin is a show I've heard many things about and have seen much around my flist, so I'm willing to give it a shot.

Callis was perfect casting for Eureka. I can't wait to see his crazy!awesome energy brought into that mix :)

I like Jericho but I would say it's a pretty tame look at a post-apocalyptic world...but I blame that on it's timeslot being 8pm on CBS. Definitely more family-friendly than BSG or BBC's Survivors. Merlin is another family-friendly show but like Doctor Who, it's got plenty of juicy material for adults :D

I love James so much, I'm so happy that he's getting roles post-BSG. ♥

I love Avatar: The Last Airbender! You should really check it out! It's a really good show.

I used to watch Sanctuary but then I just lost interest in. I should warn you though. It has a lot of CGI in it because it started out as a web series before it came to TV. And some of it is not that good.

Still, it's worth a watch. I heard the second season is really good though.

I'm certainly going to be watching. It does look good and I've heard amazing things about the series in general. :D

Well, considering it's on SciFi I know what to expect, lol. I also heard the show upped itself in the second season, I'm definitely going to be checking it out for sure.

Avatar: the Last Airbender is truly awesome. It's one of the best shows I've ever seen, which surprised me completely. It's just pitch perfect. There are moments that had me so tied in knots I couldn't even believe it.

I too want to watch Sanctuary. It's next on my queue, actually. And Haven! I really hope Haven is cool.
Renée: Six/Gaius. Passion.rogueslayer452 on July 1st, 2010 09:06 am (UTC)
See, and that's one of the reasons I feel interested in the show. So much praise for it simply with how people connected with the characters and what was happening; I only know about the basic plot but hearing so many people show their love for the show and how much it surprised them that they were enthralled with it, that's just remarkable to me. It makes me feel like I've missed out on something good.

I hope Haven is cool, too. I've seen all the previews and it looks to be interesting.

Avatar is awesome. When I watched it I was expecting it to just be a kids show, but it's excellent.
Renée: Cara. Archangel.rogueslayer452 on July 1st, 2010 07:14 am (UTC)
I've heard the same thing from other people, how it's not your typical kids cartoon but there's something much more with the characters and the mythology of the show. Which is one of the reasons why I've decided to check it out. :)

I think Fringe is brilliant, though it takes a couple of episodes to hit its stride. And Sanctuary is my guilty pleasure.

I was thinking about watching Avatar as well, since everyone raves about how good it is. Also I'm currently watching Deadwood for the first time.

Haven looks interesting, I'm going to investigate.
Renée: Kahlan. Swept by the wind.rogueslayer452 on July 1st, 2010 08:24 am (UTC)
Fringe looks to be my kind of show, honestly. It deals with the strange and mysterious and I like the look of it. Also, Joshua Jackson, always a plus. ;)

I can't wait to get to Deadwood. I've heard great things about it. It's one of those shows that you heard about but put off to see, so I'm thinking about breaking that and actually seeing it.

I highly recommend Band of Brothers. It's a such beautiful and emotional mini-series.

I watched Avatar a few episodes here and there and while it's not really to my liking, it is an excellent series. The world is fantastical and so diverse that I'm still amazed by it.
Renée: Castiel. Whumped :(rogueslayer452 on July 1st, 2010 09:01 am (UTC)
Yeah, I've heard it's rather emotional, which makes me wonder how many tissues I'll be needing to watch it...

It's so nice hearing that even if the show isn't to someone's liking they can appreciate the world that was created. It makes me wish that the live action movie had the same appreciation and respect, which made me want to watch the series in the first place.

I pretty much agree with everyone on the greatness of Avatar. I haven't heard of Haven until now but it sounds interesting.

I highly recommend Community, it's one of my new favourite shows and it's got a hilarious cast and smart writing.

I love Merlin as well mostly due to Merlin/Arthur. It's not the greatest show but it's fun and the actors are quite good and bring a lot of charm (especially Colin Morgan as Merlin). I know it's not for everyone though.

Deadwood is totally on my list of shows to watch since I've heard so many people rave about it. I've been wanting to watch it for awhile now but just haven't gotten around to it. The lead actor for one of my favourite new shows Justified was on the show which makes me want to watch it even more now.
Renée: LotS. Cara.rogueslayer452 on July 1st, 2010 10:01 am (UTC)
I've seen Community recommended like, everywhere. And Merlin is definitely one I've seen all over the place, and I think my original interest was because of Anthony Stewart Head. Because, duh. But still yeah, it can be a "make it or break it" depending on how it goes for me. But I'm willing to try it.

*nods* There's been lots of talk about Deadwood and how under-appreciated it is.

A mighty impressive list, my dear. I highly recommend Fringe and Sanctuary, and I was thinking about checking out Avatar, myself, because I've also heard people praising it. And, please -- for the love of Richard Speight Jr. -- watch Band of Brothers. This series is the closest you will ever come to perfect television. The cast is the brilliant, the storytelling is well-paced, and the battle scenes will literally have you on the edge of your seat. In a word, this series is freakin' amazing.

Some other recommendations: Being Human, The Big Bang Theory, Doctor Who, Pushing Daisies, and The Pacific. You may also want to check out the underrated series, Charlie Jade.
Renée: Six/Gaius. Your destiny awaits.rogueslayer452 on July 1st, 2010 09:24 pm (UTC)
Based off what others are saying, it sounds like Band of Brothers is the one show I would be all over had I known about it before. But thankfully, due to the Gabester being in it, my interest has risen and therefore I must watch it. :)

Oh, I've been meaning to see what the fuss is about with Being Human. And Pushing Daisies is another well-praised show that I have yet to actually see.

YAY FOR AVATAR! \O/

I might check out Haven. I also need to start watching Community and Deadwood. I watched a couple episodes of Band of Brothers in high school and while I couldn't follow everything I really appreciated how realistic the battles looked.

I kinda have you to thank amongst the many influences of wanting to watch it, m'dear. Since you post about it constantly my interest rose more and more, and with the movie dealio I wanted to see the hoopla and, well. Here I am! :D

I was the same, actually. Cartoons these days aren't something I get into much, however from what people have said it goes above and beyond the normal kids cartoon genre and as you said, can be enjoyed by any age. I'm looking forward to further myself with the knowledge of the show and seeing for myself in what everyone is talking about.

I hope to get into it, too. It looks absolutely fascinating and I need more shows that break my brain, but in a good way.

FRINGE!! I know you are gonna love it, it is just your kind of show. The Walter/Peter dynamic is so enjoyable and I love the whole darn cast to pieces. I came into the show late by rec of a friend and I ate the episodes I had missed up like sugar coated crack.
Renée: Kahlan. Smile.rogueslayer452 on July 1st, 2010 08:48 pm (UTC)
I'm downloading for first episode now, actually. :D

I totally recommend Hex if you haven't seen it, it's full of plot holes and it kind of doesn't make sense.... but the acting and the humor completely make up for all of the nonsense.

Other shows that aren't too serious, mostly lol worthy, full of plot holes, but hella fun to watch:

Xena
Hercules
Highlander
Cleopatra 2525
Jack of all Trades
Early Edition
Beastmaster
Jake 2.0
Roswell

And I now you've seen few of these already right?

But I think a rewatch is always awesome, I love to marathon things once in a while.
