SAVE CAPRICA!
SIGN PETITION TO SAVE CAPRICA AND GET A SECOND SEASON.

Some think it's a lost cause and that it's "beyond saving" at this point. I, however, am remaining optimistic and am incredibly adamant that with bringing the attention to the networks and the TPTB that this is a show many people have watched and have loved since the beginning, and that there is a dedicated fanbase that is disappointed and outraged by this abrupt decision of canceling such a fascinating and intellectually stimulating science fiction drama and that it deserves at least one more season in order to expand the story, its characters and the universe it spent so much time building.

Sign the petition, send it around to friends, around Twitter, get the word out even if you don't watch the show.

And thanks to a little help from someone who contacted me with this information, we also have the power to take direct action by contacting TPTB and showing our support for Caprica by telling them precisely why we love it and why it deserves another season. Here are e-mails to send (not hate-mail, but more like "pimping" mail to show that we do want the show to go on).

Am I crazy for thinking that this could do anything? Perhaps, but it's worked for certain shows in the past so if it worked for them I don't see how crazy it is for us to do the same. I'm not saying there's a high possibility this will do anything, but there's certainly no harm in trying right? We as fans and viewers hold the power, and without using our voices we would never get heard. It depends on how loud our voices are and how much we can change the outcome of this fate.

It's rare, but not impossible.

I've sent to feedback@syfy.com. Should I send to Mark Stern too?

I think it would be a good idea, it would be direct contact with someone in the main offices instead of general Syfy feedback.

I would think sending messages to all these places would be a good idea, let them know that we're passionate about this show and would like them to listen to us.

programming@syfy.com appears to not be a real address. Where did you get it?
Renée: Caprica. Zoe Graystone.rogueslayer452 on October 30th, 2010 12:39 am (UTC)
From Syfy.com (at least the last time I looked, it could have changed)

Now it looks like this: http://www.syfy.com/feedback/

And a Google search for "programming@syfy.com" turned up no results.

Huh, well that's interesting. No matter though, there are other contacts to write to. So it's all good.

I think you should see this article: http://www.capricatimes.com/why-is-caprica-cancelled

That was a very good read, and I agree that the network poorly handled the show not only in promotion but how they dealt with scheduled and rescheduling and the long hiatuses. Now they're withholding the rest of the episodes until next year which is only adding more salt on the wound.

Have you read about what fans (and actors) are trying to do?

I disagree about it lacking the lightning-in-a-bottle storytelling chemistry. And I think leaving it off at the first season finale and then going to Blood & Chrome is half-assed.

I emailed the author of the Caprica Times article, telling them that they should send it to feedback@syfy.com and the execs' addresses. And that you said Syfy used to care more about the fanbase than the ratings.

Oh yes. I mean how can you go from whatever the finale is gonna be into Blood and Chrome? It doesn't made sense, and it makes me feel like something had been kind of funky with TPTB once they decided to greenlight the other prequel. Like seriously? If you cared about the BSG franchise so much (as they're claiming) why would they treat Caprica the way they did and are still doing? I don't get it.

Thank you for that, and yeah seriously the BSG fanbase is thriving, whether new fans or old fans combined they can't just say they love the franchise but completely don't give the show a chance to really build on its own. Totally half-assed, for sure.

I've signed the petition and put it out on my twitter. I'll definitely put that in my journal later.

It may or may not work but we all have got to at least try.

Awesome! Thank you.

There's also the "Apple Uprising" that's been advocated by Alessandra and Sasha who are doing their part in getting fans into fighting against the network. Which I think is fantastic, and I'm totally gonna be participating in for sure.
