April Question Meme: Day Twenty-Nine
Asked by philstar22:

Which fandom world would you most like to live in and why?

Right now? Middle-earth, since I'm currently quite obsessed with it. I'm torn on whether I would like to live either in the Shire, Erebor, or Rivendell.

I also wouldn't mind living in the world of Harry Potter, because magic, obviously. But it would have to be without any threat of Voldemort, and in a version of that world where things have improved and progressed politically (among other things), and that I would actually have magical powers so I could live in the Wizarding World.

Middle Earth would be awesome as a world. Although, as a woman it might be hard for me to fit in. But if I could actually be anything I wanted to be, the world would be my favorite to live in. So pretty and epic and awesome. I think I'd like to live in Rohan maybe, though any of the places there would be awesome to live in.

Yes, Harry Potter would be awesome as things improved. Though I might like to be Hermione-like and be one of the people affecting change.

I feel like the only downside would be getting used to not having modern necessities. As cool as the world is, it would take some time to adapt.

The Wizarding World, on the other hand, has no excuses for living in a semi-archaic manner. It would definitely be one of the things that needs improved, for sure.

I feel like your choice of location would probably drastically depend on which point in Middle Earth's timeline you're picking, ie Rivendell post the War of the Ring would be fairly deserted, or the Shire during Saurman's exile there would be bad.

But overall, yeah, Middle Earth could be a fun place to live. Particularly the Shire.

Probably, yeah. But I figure that applies for most fictional worlds where shit happens at a certain time in a certain place.

I have a soft spot for Middle-Earth, though I wouldn't want to live there with a dark lord and war about. I'm torn between Rivendell (LOTR version, because of the autumn colours, which obviously weren't there in better times and probably didn't last long after the elves left...), Rohan, The Shire and Lothlorien. There's so many beautiful places and all of them full of history and stories.

Agreed. There's so much rich history with many places and locations, I would just love to visit each and every one of them and even temporarily live in some.

For me it would still be those two as well! Even if I'm more into scifi these days, these two worlds have so much melancholy value for me, and are simply so well-build that I'll never not want to live there =) Middle-Earth-wise it'd be Rohan for me though, hands down. With the occasional journey to The Shire to visit my hobbit brethren =P

I really adore well-build worlds where there's much description, history and lore and where you wish it was real so you could actually visit it, even live there if possible.

That's not weird at all! I honestly would love to live/visit all places in Middle-earth if I could, because that world is just so beautiful and amazing.

And yes, The Hobbit has given me a new appreciation of dwarves and their culture. Seeing Erebor during its heyday, the way it was built, the inner cities within, the color, I would love to live there. Or even in Dale, just outside of Erebor, so lively and vibrant.

I was going to say 'of course it's the Shire!" (it being the place one would want to live in on Middle Earth), but then you mentioned Rivendell, and hmmmm. I want to live in the same places as Bilbo is all.

lol, pretty much. I would love to visit all places in Middle-earth, but I feel like the Shire would be the first and foremost place that most people would live. :)
