Answers to bachicka's questions:
1. Who is your favorite Firefly character?
River Tam, for she is my girl. Granted I love all the Big Damn Heroes on different levels for different reasons, but it was River who was the very first character I immediately fell in love with. Second came Inara, and then Mal, and eventually everyone else quickly followed. The Fireflyverse is just full of love.
2. Would you rather win the lottery or become famous (like a celebrity, author, inventor) but not necessarily be wealthy?
Difficult question, I'll say. Winning the lottery would be immediate cash, which could come in handy when paying off college tuition, living necessities and shallow-shopping here and there. Although, because I like being productive and getting rewarded for my work and creativities, I'd like to have a profession without being extremely wealthy. Everyone wishes they could have all the money in the world, at least the middleclass and lower-middleclass like myself do anyway, however having all the money in the world wouldn't necessarily make me happy. I'd rather have a sense of accomplishment for receiving and earning that money rather than by just random luck.
3. If you could make everyone in the world read four books, which books would you choose?
White Oleander by Janet Fitch, Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, Battle Royale by Koushun Takami, and The Cement Garden by Ian McEwan.
4. What is your favorite word?
Recently I've come to like the word "acrimonious" despite its definition.
5. Shower or bubble bath?
Oh, I haven't had a bubble bath in quite a long time! I'm sure due to my excessive dancing it would be soothing to my muscles. Both are refeshing, that's for sure.
Answers to juliet42's questions:
1. Share a happy memory?
Senior year in high school, graduation day. It was a mixture of excitement, happiness and nervousness. Having come such a long way academically, the overwhelming feeling I had was just indescribable.
2. Share a sad memory?
There's several depressing memories, some include the death of family members to parental conflictions. However I am not going to rehash these moments which may bring tears of sadness or frustration; I will not dwell on the past. Let's just say that I've suffered through the normal complications, most of which happened during my adolescent years.
3. What are your current favorite songs?
There's certainly a lot of songs I'm obsessing over. I've been listening to a lot of Namie Amuro as she's my latest obsession (and I love her voice and her dance moves, and just Namie in general really). Also there's Psapp, which I was introduced to as their song "Cosy in the Rocket" is the theme song for Grey's Anatomy, and The Pussycat Dolls are my guilty pleasure.
4. What are your current favorite TV shows?
Veronica Mars, House, Criminal Minds, Bones, Grey's Anatomy (which I'm still in the first season, however watching several funny clips from its second via YouTube, that are non-spoilerific), Medium, Supernatural, Doctor Who (2005 series), and most recently Big Love. These are all my favorite television fandoms that aren't cancelled, by the way.
5. What is your ideal career?
To pursue whatever career I want without complications! But seriously, I am seriously interesting in anthropology and criminology, and dance is something I am positively sure I could pursue if I had enough money to go into a dance academy.
Answers to carlyinrome's questions:
1. Is your name really Renée?
It is part of my real name, yes. It's actually my middle-name.
2. Where does the "452" in your LJ name come from?
It's from the now-cancelled television series Dark Angel, which during the time I watched religiously and was a beloved fandom of mine. When creating my LJ account and picking a proper username, I decided to combined two of my favorite fandoms: the "rogue slayer" is a title used to describe the character of Faith in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (and Faith is my favorite character, unsurprisingly) and "452" is added on for my love for the Max Guevera, the main character of Dark Angel, because her identification is X5-452. Mainly, very fandom-based.
3. You always have a lot of Inara icons; why do you like her so much? (That sounds kind of accusing when you can't judge my intonation; it's not. I like her, too. I just want to hear your reasons.) Additionally: is she your favorite character on "Firefly?"
Inara Serra. I just love how compassionate she is towards everyone she comes encounter with, and I love how intelligent and well-spoken she is, and she has this maternal calming presence; Inara has a Zen-kind of aura that I like, and even with timid characters like River she can be gentle and loving towards them. As a sidenote, I love that while she is trained as a Companion she is well-respected, and although she's seen as a feminine woman with such a career Inara can totally hold her own. Also, as a shallow explanation, I adore her entire wardrobe and I think she's a gorgeous woman. Initially, as I aforesaid, River was the first character I fell in love with. But Inara definitely is a genuine favorite. I was disappointed in the lack of character background given (and knowingly if the series had continued, we would've learned more about her), however I do love speculating about her past and why she left her home planet, among other mysteries she brought which is another thing I love about Inara; she's quite an enigma.
4. I read in your LJ profile when I friended you that you are a very irritable individual . . . but I have never, ever seen you as anything but sweet, even-tempered and wonderful to be around. What's the quickest way to make you cranky? (I am not, I would like to note ahead of time, planning on testing this.)
If anyone continuously disagrees with my opinion just to get a rise out of me. Additionally, if someone were to personally attack me for no apparent reason other than to cause unnecessary drama --- or any kind of drama at all --- would, most definitely, infuriate me to no end. I'm all up for constructively debates, however I don't take kindly to inconsiderate assholes who don't take the hint of bugging off. Believe me, there will be bloodshed; thankfully, nothing of the sort has ever happened since my time here, and I'm hoping it never will.
5. What's a really small thing that makes you disporportionally happy?
One small thing? I'm to say music. As a dancer, I find joy in finding the beats in almost all songs I listen to and, sometimes unconcsiously, if I find those correct rhythms and the right tempo I get overly giddy.
