For those that don't know, Scott Peterson was on trial for murdering his wife, Laci Peterson, and their unborn son, Connor, on Christmas Eve of 2002. Earlier today, he was charged with First and Second Degree murder.
I've been following this case for almost two whole years now, and after his conviction I can finally breathe in satisfaction. Relieved that he didn't off, I hope that the jury comes up with a reasonable punishment for this cold-hearted bastard. He could either be sent to 25 years to life in prison, or could receive the Death Penalty. Personally, I would think that the Death Penalty wouldn't justify what he put Laci's family through -- what he put everybody through that had to live with this information day after day and the heartache of learning that a lively woman like Laci would die a horrible and gruesome death by her own husband. He should get 25 years to life in prison without any chance at parole. That's what I think he deserves.
Having heard of this case almost everyday since Laci's disappearance, I'm glad of the outcome and am waiting for the sentencing phase of Scott's appeal.
I know I shouldn't be happy about putting anyone to prison....but after living with hearing about this case for months and months, anticipating to find justice for Laci and her unborn son's death, I am glad that it's over and glad that he was finally convicted.
In one word: halleluiah!
