Goodness gracious.
I'm sure everyone's heard by now: FOX promises to air all 13 episodes of Dollhouse.

Not only does Preston Beckman have a great sense of humor about all of this, but he seems to understand the passionate dedication the Whedon fanbase has and the backlash it will cause if they canceled the show before its contracted run (the comment about still paying for the cancellation of TSCC made me lol). So this is amazing news to hear, and I'm really glad that FOX is actually giving Dollhouse these chances where they didn't before with Firefly.

Also, this thought-provoking article says that latest episode was "phenomenal", and gives examples and provides some meta at the new and interesting direction the show is taking and presenting on the screen as opposed to last season. It is quite fascinating to read.

It really is a breath of fresh air for us to have this support, from FOX no less and from this guy who understands our fanatical dedication to the show and anything Joss Whedon does. We're not entirely out of the woods yet, since ratings are still a main priority, but it's definitely a relief from all the worry.

And yes, the last episode was certainly brilliant. In and of itself, it was truly a disturbing yet fascinating episode to have, and I'm glad that they're taking that plunge in that dark direction.

You're very welcome. :) Spreading as much DH news as I can.

Dollhouse really should have a larger fanbase, given how topical it is. But doesn't that just figure? And I guess it's hard to convey its deeper aspects when promoting it.

You'd think, right? It is rather difficult to sum up the entire show in a simple sentence. It's such a complicated and complex concept that goes way beyond the surface than how other people tend to view it as. I don't know if the complexity is too much or whatever, but it's interesting reading how people react to the show. Thinking it's not good enough. If you look at what's been taken into account with the Dollhouse itself, the organization and how it reflects our culture and society, not to mention to abuse of technology and the freewill of individuals that have had their identities and freedom taken away from them and overcoming this enslavement, particularly in Echo's case becoming more and more self-aware....yeah, it's incredibly complex. Not to mention the subject matter can be uncomfortable for some people.

I actually wonder how Dollhouse would have done if it were on SciFi than on a network like FOX, and how it would have been perceived.

Every time you write a post about Dollhouse I feel the urge to go watch it. I've got the episodes, I haven't had the time to watch them yet u.u

Anyway, I'm so glad that they're airing the complete season, even if the ratings aren't exactly good.

When you do get the chance please do, because it really is great. :D

Yeah, and you know how FOX is with ratings and such, so this is a huge blessing for it to be renewed and to have a full second season despite the low numbers.
