I've only made a brief squee post about the pilot episode, but I have to repeat the sentiment that this is, by far, my favorite new show of the season. And I wasn't lying that this show is giving me certain ~feelings, already two episodes in and I am having emotions for the characters. THIS IS A GOOD SIGN PEOPLE, REALLY GOOD. TO MAKE ME ALL EMOTIONAL/PROTECTIVE OF CERTAIN CHARACTERS MEANS YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING GOOD.
I am really loving the parallels between the fairy tale world and the harsh reality in which the characters are living in, how we see traces of their former selves in their mundane lives. We saw the backstory of the Evil Queen in this episode, and the sacrifices she made to bring forth the Curse, and how it's slowly crumbling down around her in the reality she is in because of Emma's presence. Of course I really liked seeing the bits of her humanity while being the Evil Queen, particularly with her father and her dearest friend, even though she fought against one and killed her father because she wanted this Curse so badly and cause suffering. She wants others to suffer because that is the only way she can ever be happy. Which is precisely how she manages in our reality, until Emma came along to challenge her in a way that no one in Storybrooke ever did -- she feels threatened.
What I like is that there is an ambiguity about who knows more about their former lives. There's certainly traces of their former selves, like a distant memory of something familiar they can't quite place. Emma's presence will only make it stronger, for sure.
Can I just mention that little Henry is adorable? I just wanna squish him. ♥
I love the Sheriff. He can get it. And I kinda ship him with Emma just a tiny bit. ;)
Again, this show is making me have ~feelings. Like, with the entire adoption thing and about Emma not having been equipped to being a mother at the time of having him and wanting to give him a chance for a good like, however she feels the need of knowing him and seeing him in a very unhealthy environment at home she wants to protect him, esp with that instinct inside of her knowing something is not right. And of course there's the birth mother vs. adoptive mother thing, the constant battle that is something many have to face everyday, etc. AGAIN THIS SHOW. SO MANY FEELINGS OKAY? AND I LIKE THAT BECAUSE I LOVE THE CHARACTERS AND I WANT MORE OF THEM AND I WANT THERE TO BE SOMETHING WHERE THE FAIRY TALE CHARACTERS FINALLY GET SOME OF THEIR MEMORIES BACK -- LIKE THE TEACHER REALIZING SHE IS SNOW WHITE AND THAT EMMA SWAN IS HER DAUGHTER AND SHE AND HER PRINCE CHARMING WILL BE REUNITED AGAIN AND THAT EMMA WILL BRING BACK THE LIFE AND CONFIDENCE IN THE PEOPLE TO TAKE DOWN THE EVIL QUEEN ONCE AND FOR ALL AND SHE AND HENRY CAN BE TOGETHER AND OMG OMG OMG OMG.
I END UP GOING FROM NORMAL TEXT TO CAPSLOCK WHEN I TALK ABOUT THIS SHOW. IT'S JUST TOO CUTE AND PRETTY AND AWESOME AND I LIKE THE CHARACTERS AND THE STORY AND I HOPE THAT THEY GET A FULL SEASON AND IT DOES WELL BECAUSE A;LSFJDA;SFJDLAJSF;DAFLD ♥ ♥ ♥
The fact this show has messed with my emotions with only two episodes says something. I love it. I absolutely love it. ♥
