This was kind of a doozy of an episode.
First, we have the mystery of Lucas, which as it turns out was a red-herring regarding the A thing. He had something else worrying his brain, and the girls just assumed because it sounded like what happened to them in the greenhouse. Simply put, anything that sounds remotely like what's been happening to them they're likely to assume anything and not take any chances. But it creates more questions and holes than answers and solutions. But it's also a process of elimination. Lucas would have been a likely candidate, but now that we know that he's not involved in this little act (as far as we know) it's now trying to figure out who is connected to who, and who is the main person organizing everything. Is it primarily Jenna and Garrett, or is it Jenna and someone else?
Which, by the way, there seems to be something really sketchy with the series of events with certain characters. Jenna brushed off Garrett, them arguing about getting someone "involved" and Jenna just rejecting Garrett like he never existed to her. Now in this episode, we hear that Noel broke up with Mona. Coincidence? Another red-herring? Hmmmm...
Of course, what if it is Lucas and he's just really good at covering his tracks? He looked incredibly creepy in the previous episode, and I don't think it was because of the gambling thing. If that were the truth he could have told Hanna or someone else and have them help him with the money issue. But I don't know. It's all very complicated, and the red-herrings have to cease in order to get things straightened out.
I know that things will be revealed by the end of this season. In an interview it was said that we will finally see A's lair (which was so scary that some cast and visitors had to leave the set, which makes whatever it is more intriguing) and possibly the real reveal of who A is, or whoever is working with A. I just know that this season we're going to be having more revealed to us than we've gotten previously, and I know they've been confirmed for a third season, so it shouldn't be that long before some of the secrets unravel themselves, right?
Other Things I Liked About This Episode:
++ Spencer and Mona. They're the odd couple really, you wouldn't expect them to cross paths and have a honest, civil conversation. And yet that is precisely what happened in this episode. They only time they've ever conversed was when Hanna was there or when Spencer was forced to work with her, but they've never talked to one another other than that. Plus, their interaction was rather sweet. It was an unexpected surprise, to say the least.
++ The stormy atmosphere. It added a lot to the feel of the episode, particularly the gloom hovering over Hanna and the doom over the girls in general.
++ A texting the girls again. It had been a while, since the mid-season premiere, because of the lost cellphone. I'm guessing whoever it is got a new one and has been retaliating against the girls harder than before (first with the lake water in Hanna's bottle, tormenting her in the bathroom, and then with the worms in their takeout) A must be extremely pissed off at this point, and planning something to get them back for good on what they did. I think taunting Hanna in the girl's bathroom and the worm thing were the highlight of A's revenge in this episode.
++ Hanna and Caleb. I hated it when they fought, and I hated that Hanna has to continue lying to him, but I'm happy that they resolved things, or at least things were cleared up by the end of the episode of what was happening with Lucas.
++ Detective!Spencer is always my favorite. ♥
++ THAT SCENE IN HANNA'S HOUSE WHEN LUCAS IS SNEAKING IN! OKAY I LEGIT FREAKED THE FUCK OUT. VERY SUSPENSEFUL STUFF RIGHT THERE. Although yeah, the reveal on why Lucas was sneaking around and being very weird was kind of meh in general, wished there could have been more lead-up to that (even if you look back Lucas was acting rather odd around Caleb), still THE PART WHERE HANNA IS CALLING UP TO HER MOM AND WE SEE THE HOODED FIGURE DASH QUICKLY BEHIND HER! I ACTUALLY YELPED. I MEAN NO JOKE. THAT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE. EVEN THOUGH I WAS SUSPECTING IT IT STILL STARTLED ME LIKE WHOA. SAME WITH WHEN HANNA WAS MAKING THE PHONE CALL, WITH THE SAD MUSIC, AND THEN SUDDENLY BAM! CREEPY NOISE BEING MADE. ASJF;ALSFJDALSFD
++ Holden. I think he's adorable, and definitely very gay. ;)
Things I Didn't Like:
++ I don't know what's up with Maya. I don't like the implications that Maya hooked up with a guy while she was away. I'm not entirely sure what they're doing with this storyline, to be honest. I have to recall whether Maya said that she's strictly into girls or is bisexual, but I can see where this throws Emily through a loop.
Oh, and Pretty Little Liars won Best Drama at People's Choice Awards! Congratulations girls, you definitely deserve it. ♥
