Misha as a character

yeah ;D
Renée: Misha Collins. IDEK.rogueslayer452 on March 28th, 2012 10:56 pm (UTC)

Thinking about it though, I keep coming back to this one thing. I'm not sure if this is really an unpopular opinion, but it's just an opinion:

I like the way Misha constructs himself at conventions.

I say this in response to those few people who come back writing complaints about how Misha was being "rude" to them during the Q&As and whatnot. Generally speaking, his sense of humor and the way he responds to the fans. He knows what we're like, we know what he's like, he plays with us and we play with him. Some newbies might not get his humor (esp if they're not familiar with his Twitter persona) but it's not necessarily rude as more of him just fucking around being ridiculous. I also like how he doesn't always do things fans ask of him. In his own words, "I'm not your dancing monkey." Some fans get so upset over him not doing something or answering something seriously, but really, he's not obligated to do whatever we ask. I like the way he handles certain things.

Other than that, I really have no other opinion to give. ;)

hahahahaha yeah, i was kinda tryin' to trick you, but this was actually a well-thought-out response. whatayaknow.

anyway, i think that people who o.O at his humor should watch a lot of BBC america. if you see enough "8 and a half cats" and Nevermind the Buzzcocks and Jonathan Ross and Jimmy Carr and ....you get to understand that these people hold nothing as absolutely sacred from being laughed at. at first i was kind of cautious, because i didn't know him enough to know if he was the usual geek boy mocking the fangirls, but now i totally understand it as satire and a love of laughter. which is like, totally different from mocking, bc mocking is about belittling but satirizing is --idk-- not for cynics. it's for people who want to point out how things are and how things could be better, without bringing anyone down. by now it's almost a type of culture with its own culture, language...

other Fandoms wish they had their very own Mishas

01. I liked their dynamic, and I thought they had nice chemistry with each other, but I just didn't really ship them. At least not as strongly as other people seemed to in the BSG fandom. In the end, I felt that they were just too destructive for each other in that way, but amazing as friends.

02. There are times when I wished the show would have made it so Kara could have had multiple partners instead of just one. Perhaps it was a statement to how fucked up she was at being indecisive and somewhat not fit for committed relationships, and always kept punishing herself in that sense (to quote her: "I love Sam, I hate Sam. I love Lee, I hate Lee. Gods, I have to cheat in order to keep the pieces all nice and neat.") But idk, there are times when I wished they had applied the Caprica aspect of open relationships/group marriages.

03. I felt the whole marriage thing in S3 was fucked up, because they were both treating Sam and Dee so unfairly. I hated the storyline. I'm sure we were meant to, but I hated it so much and it's the thing that made me realize how destructive Lee and Kara were together.

04. I liked the ending for Kara and Lee. Kara was finally at peace, and Lee was able to be his own person.

Katniss Everdeen

(I actually don't even know what the popular or unpopular opinions on her might be. I'm just on a Hunger Games kick and remember you talking about the book long before I had read it, so I never actually read your opinions because I was afraid of spoilers. So, basically just talk to me about your Katniss feelings! ;D)

Katniss Everdeen

01. I really love her character, but sometimes I got a bit annoyed with the way she was written. This is one of the faults of the book itself, first-person is definitely a hit-or-miss. It doesn't diminish my love for her character, though.

02. I would have liked the story much better if wasn't the need for a romance/triangle in the books themselves. I know this is a YA series and having something of a romance was probably needed to attract an audience, but I felt that having the back-and-forth thing with Peeta and Gale was unnecessary. I would have preferred her to be friends with both of them and them just working together as a team instead of the mind games going on. For them to fool the Capitol, I can understand, but the rest of it? Could have done without. I'm also not a fan of Peeta so seeing people wet themselves over him and Katniss just makes me roll my eyes

03. Needless to say, I love the fact that Katniss did what she did for her little sister. For her family. Her bravery, her entire reason of entering the games wasn't for a boy but for her family. I like that aspect.

We have mostly similar feelings with the exception of your lack of Peeta love ;) and I couldn't agree more about your last point. I love that everything Katniss does, everything she ends up causing in the series, comes from her looking out for her family.

River Song

01. I love her relationship with the Doctor. I love the way she's an equal to him in many ways, the way they play off each other, the way she calls him out on things (ex. AGMGTW comes to mind) and just everything with the way they interact. I've seen people criticize River as being a lovesick woman who revolves around the Doctor, but I don't see that at all. I see River Song as a woman who was bred with the purpose but the Doctor changed that, and she sees him as someone that really understands her better than anyone else. This fascinates her. And I love their scenes together because they really truly are equals.

02. I love the connection of the Ponds with River Song, I love that they are her parents and that whole storyline. It was brilliantly constructed.

03. I just love River Song. End of story. ♥
Renée: Dean/Castiel. You and I.rogueslayer452 on March 28th, 2012 11:43 pm (UTC)

01. Out of all the seasons, I believe the fourth season and fifth seasons are the best at demonstrating how essentially perfect the Dean/Castiel relationship was. It was constructed so beautifully in season four, starting off as a hesitant partnership between human and angel to slowly building up to a friendship and them trusting each other, and then it progressed into something much, much more. Season five might not have been perfect in the end, but at least it still had the Dean and Cas friendship going, something the latter seasons have failed to acknowledge or keep straight. I feel that S4 and S5 best demonstrate why they have such a profound bond, why they need each other and why they complete each other on so many levels.

02. From S6 onwards, it's been more one-sided than anything else. It breaks my heart. ;__;

03. I have no sympathy for Dean anymore, all of it went out the window when he (along with Sam and Bobby) persecuted Castiel for doing something they themselves have done many times before in moments of desperation. And all Castiel was doing was protecting them. Dean just needs to grow the fuck up and apologize to Castiel, and ask for his forgiveness. Castiel has done more than enough to prove himself to them, now it's his turn. He needs to beg, grovel, plead for Castiel's forgiveness of him acting like a hypocritical asshole. The way he treated Castiel -- someone he considered a friend, family -- is hugely despicable and I just loathe Dean so much for that.

04. Right now, this relationship is fucking hurting my heart. I prefer reading AUs just to make me feel better about them, tbqh.

Just a shot in the dark. Laura Roslin.

Laura Roslin

I love Roslin, but there were points in the series where I didn't like the way she went about things (ex. taking Hera away from Sharon and Helo was one of the lowest things she ever did, imo, and I don't think she even properly apologized for it either) Even though she thought she was doing the right thing in the moment, some of the things she did irritated me because they weren't well-thought out.

Renée: Gabriel. BB COME BACK!rogueslayer452 on March 29th, 2012 01:04 am (UTC)

01. I still maintain the opinion that the revelation of him being the angel Gabriel is one of the best retcons the show ever did, and the only one that ever made sense.

02. Not expanding his character -- exploring his relationships with his brothers and sisters in Heaven, with Castiel, with Lucifer -- is one of the biggest mistakes the show ever did. The fact there was so much richness with his character after that reveal of him being an angel, there should have been more involvement of him. Needless to say, after the way they've treated Castiel over the last two seasons, I'm kind of glad of the outcome for Gabriel. I wouldn't want the show to cheapen his death.

03. I like the idea of Sam/Gabriel. I haven't read any fics with them (some are vastly OOC) but I like the idea of them.

I would like all your feels on Nikita + Caprica Six, please :) Or any of the 6s, really...
Renée: Six. Relaxation.rogueslayer452 on March 29th, 2012 06:07 pm (UTC)
I don't think I have any on Nikita, so here are some for Six (all incarnations):

Number Six

01. You can say I'm not a big fan of the pregnancy storyline, however I did enjoy the relationship unfold between Saul and Caprica Six and the last bit with them was pretty emotional.

02. I truly believe that Gina used the nuke to commit suicide...without really committing suicide. Being so broken and damaged after everything that happened to her, and having the belief that suicide is a sin, she decided to not go with Baltar to New Caprica and instead complete her mission she was assigned for along with ending her own existence. Hers is such a sad and tragic story, it hurts my heart thinking about it. I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or rather something worth discussing, because there's no explanation given (neither is there for Baltar giving the nuke to Gina in the first place.) Just my take on it.

03. Natalie should have lasted more episodes. I wanted her to meet the Final Five properly. I wanted her to survive the show properly. :(

04. Gaius Baltar/Caprica Six is the greatest love story of the entire show. ♥

Renée: Amy Pond. Something wicked.rogueslayer452 on March 29th, 2012 06:18 pm (UTC)

01. I don't ship them. At all.

02. For a sibling relationship as brothers, I dislike the codependency that continues to happen with them constantly. Yeah they had a tough life and shit keeps happening, but I think they just need to grow up and use those experiences as something learn from. Seven seasons they haven't yet figured it out and it gets old fast. This is why I liked the fourth season, they both had their separate storylines, took a breather from each other and had someone else to confide in (whether for good or bad) and it shaped them differently. Trouble is, the show doesn't learn and continues to smother them and doesn't allow them to grow as individuals. This is a harmful thing, and it has made me lose interest in them as characters completely.

03. If Dean and Sam existed in real life I wouldn't trust them, given their track record on the show. In fact I would find them to be complete assholes.

04. Their sense of morality is fucked up. The fact they've survived this long astounds me.
