Lost Girl: "The Kenzi Scale" Episode Review
Lost Girl 3.06 "The Kenzi Scale"
Tamsin: What's so great about Kenzi, anyway?
Bo: She's...she's Kenzi. She's smart, and honest, and kind, and she makes me feel normal and special all at the same time. She is my heart, Tamsin.

Can I just take a moment to squee about this little moment here, please?

If I had to sum up the entire show, it would be this. Bo and Kenzi's strong friendship is the core of what makes this show work. Their love and trust and unbreakable bond between each other is ultimately the best thing, and we've had many moments which emphasis it, but this episode where Bo is practically fighting with all her might to save her best friend even when others aren't listening to her is what makes me love this incredible friendship. The loyalty they have in each other, the fact that Bo would do anything to save Kenzi, and that Kenzi believed that her bestie would come for her. They would do anything for each other, they would go to hell and back for each other, and. Just. This is what this show is about for me. ♥ ♥ ♥

Also, I'm officially in love with Tamsin.

I like that her character development has remained consistent, because earlier we learned that there was something different about Tamsin, that there's more to her story. Here we got a bit more, not directly stated but certainly strongly implied from her body language and expressions, and most of all her choices. She insisted on helping out Bo save the real Kenzi, they even had some heart-to-heart briefly, including allowing Bo to feed off of her to regain her strength. Never mind the longing look she gave Bo, Kenzi and Dyson was heartbreaking, plus she openly defied the Morrigan in order to protect Bo. She wants friends, you can tell she wants that kind of real connection that Bo has with hers, but as she mentioned previously, in a cryptic kind of way, when she likes someone she has to make them go away. For whatever reason we still don't know, but it's what makes her so-far mysterious story pretty sad.

Speaking of which, getting to see what she actually does as a Valkyrie? That was so badass. But at the same time, it's quite sad because obviously something is going on with her when she does end up using her ability. She had to tie her hair back to use it on Dyson, which when she untied it a piece of hair fell out. Could she be dying? Could her extensive use of her power be draining her? Could this be in relation to what Bo is going through?

All I know is that I don't want the writers to kill her off. I want her to stick around.

Also, I appreciated this episode for giving Ksenia more branching out in her acting, as she played both Kenzi and Inari the Kitsune. Brava, my dear, you did good. ♥

Now, about this Fae evolution thing that Bo is experiencing. It really makes me wonder, do all Fae who haven't gone through it experience this at the same time, or does it differ depending on the individual? According to Trick this is happening two hundred years too soon. So it makes me wonder the timeline for this rite of passage, since this seems to be more or less the evolution of all Fae, not just what is happening to Bo.

Needless to say, this episode was awesome and amazing. Bringing in the love of friendships and new allies and interesting things happening in this cray cray Fae world. :)

I am interested in what's going on with Tamsin. And how it all ties in with whatever secret she told Bo when they were 'teenagers'.

I'm really liking that they're giving her character a lot of unraveling in the growth department. At first she seemed like the typical Dark Fae, but there's more to her than just that.

This eps. was full of Kenzi and Bo feels! BFF!

And Poor Tamsin! You could tell she wants friends but there is something holding her back. What could it be?
