This week in fandom...
Welcome to all new friends: unnecessary_, ramasi, xfirefly9x, hamarakissa, wheatear, fancypopcorn, mycenaes, vivaciousmuse, riath, and giallarhorn from this friending meme. *waves*

Tonight is the Game of Thrones season finale, which I am really excited for. I'm anticipating what it will bring, considering there's been some speculation about what the ending scene might be, which I'm pretty sure non-book readers are gonna shit their pants if it actually does happen. Also tonight is the Falling Skies season premiere, and Tuesday is the season premiere of Pretty Little Liars.

Also, among giving us a brand new movie poster, it's been confirmed that the first official trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will be premiering THIS TUESDAY, JUNE 11TH. :DDDDD This is earlier than I thought it was gonna be! Not that I'm complaining, if anything I'm more ecstatic now because I've been all hyped up ever since the sneak peek came out. Plus, within the next two weeks or so we'll be getting more of the production vlogs from Peter Jackson re: the second movie, so more to look forward to!

Overall, this week is looking pretty awesome where my fandoms are concerned.

which I'm pretty sure non-book readers are gonna shit their pants if it actually does happen

I want to see reaction videos of that! Those would hysterical, lol. =D
Renéerogueslayer452 on June 9th, 2013 10:08 pm (UTC)
Yep, especially since it would coincide with the reactions from the Red Wedding, it would be glorious to see how those people take it if/when it happens.

Aww, totally unrelated June 11 is the 20th anniversary of Jurassic Park!

As to the date, it's supposed to be with Man of Steel which comes out Friday so that's why the trailer is getting released a few days before that.

Gah. Of all the time for my computer to be broken. Won't be able to watch the GOT season final until it is fixed or replaced. Which is going to be really frustrating.
Renéerogueslayer452 on June 10th, 2013 01:37 pm (UTC)
Awww, that sucks. I'm so sorry. :(

But for a non-spoiler comment on the finale: It was pretty great, especially the last few minutes.

Hello, hello!

I'm hoping for a very specific something to happen at the end of this episode and I will be SO PISSED if I have to wait until next season. lol. Mostly because I want to talk about it with my show-watching friends!!!
Renéerogueslayer452 on June 10th, 2013 03:40 pm (UTC)
HI! :D

Well, we didn't get the scene that I was hoping for, but I figured it's kind of understandable why they didn't. I think they're saving that for next season, which given the timeline of how the third book is being split up makes sense.

Instead, we did get THAT THING many were dreading about, and it was gloriously grotesque and added so much salt on that fresh wound from the Red Wedding. So I'm pleased about that.

You and I are clearly of the same mind about these things! Disappointed by sort of understanding, and then totally pleased by that one thing people were dreading. ;)

Hi!!! :D

Falling Skies!!! :D And of course GoT as well - but definitely Falling Skies <3

Also totally excited for PLL on Tuesday.

I have yet to see the first Hobbit :x I'm late to that train right now.

No seriously, I didn't expect to love it as much as I do, but after watching it the first time I got Middle-earth fever and it hasn't left. Similar to how I got into LOTR. I didn't anticipate that I would see those movies multiple times in the theaters, and yet I did. Same is happening with the Hobbit movies. IT IS AN OBSESSION THAT I DON'T PLAN ON STOPPING ANYTIME SOON. :D

I have been thinking about checking out Game of Thrones. Would you recommend reading the books before watching the series?
Renéerogueslayer452 on June 10th, 2013 03:22 pm (UTC)
It's kind of difficult to say, since I personally love and appreciate both for different reasons.

In my opinion, I would say watch the first season first, and after you finish that you can read the first book, and then you can decide where to go from there. I actually started getting into the books because of the show itself.

Obviously the books are going to be better because they're far more descriptive of what is happening in that world, and the show, being an adaptation, has changed and altered certain things. Some changes are understandable, while others make you question what the producers were thinking, etc. But for the most part the show has been pretty good so far with keeping with the story, particularly with the big shocks and twists along the way that keep everyone on their toes about what is gonna happen.

So I hope this is somewhat helpful. Overall, no matter which you choose, I highly recommend this series in general. It's a really good story with great three-dimensional, well-rounded characters, the politics and conflict that comes with it, prophecies and fantasy parts, and just all the goodness that comes with it. :)

Hello! :)

I'm a little behind in Game of Thrones so I need to catch up, but I'm excited for PLL to start back up again. I need my weekly dose of WTF.
Renée: Pretty Little Liars. Secrets.rogueslayer452 on June 10th, 2013 08:07 pm (UTC)
It's ridiculous how much I love PLL. If it were any other typical teen show I probably would have dropped it by now, but somehow this show manages to keep my interests up, from the girls and their relationships with each other to the mysteries. Idk, I just love this show, even when it gets ridiculous at times, lol.
giallarhorn: Chuck PDgiallarhorn on June 10th, 2013 10:34 pm (UTC)
Hi :D

It didn't end exactly where I had expected it would've (because well shock value and whatnot but I guess setting it up might've taken a bit).

AHHH THAT'S SO VERY CLOSE :D Though I guess it's roughly around the same time that the original Hobbit trailer had come out?
Renée: Kaylee. Giddy.rogueslayer452 on June 11th, 2013 05:45 am (UTC)
Yeah, plus I figure they've got to leave some stuff for next season, right?

I think we got the trailer for the first Hobbit movie about a year before it came out? I can't recall, but I knew that regardless the trailer for the second one had to come out during summer movie releases. I thought I would have to wait until the next of the week, but nope. It's very, very, very soon now. :DDD
giallarhorn: Chuck PDgiallarhorn on June 11th, 2013 07:50 pm (UTC)
That's true- I had expected them to end with Lady Stoneheart, but I suppose she might be late next season instead?

Hello! So, The Hobbit trailer was pretty fantastic, huh?
