October Question Meme: Day Twenty-Five
Asked by verdande_mi:

Which fantasy world/universe do you wish were real?

Middle-earth, naturally. (✿◠‿◠)

I have been immersing myself in Middle-earth that I honestly do wish that it was real. Of course, if you go by the lore itself, we are living in that universe, just in the Fourth Age (the Dominion of Men) and where magic has all but faded from existence. If this were true, I would want to go back to where the magic thrived!

This is true for me too; I love Middle Earth and love dwelling into that world and learning more. And if we do say that this is the fourth age then I suppose one could argue that there are some pockets of magic left here, but I think we are way too industrial and depended on technology to connect to nature and the universe enough for magic to thrive. At least that's how I see it.

That's an interesting way of looking at it.

I think that would be part of it, to an extent. I mean, science is our modern magic, so we still have that sense of wonderment of the world, and there are still people out there who are connected with nature, and all of that is good. But as the race of man started taking over the old magic that once was is no longer, and all the other magical and non-human races minimized and vanished. With the exception of Hobbits, as The Hobbit mentions they are still around just good at hiding.

Doesn't The Hobbit mention that sometimes you still meet hobbits? They just hide well for the most part.

Yep, and there's quite a bit of reference to how "long ago" all of this happened, which I think is rather cool (but also sad) when you think about it.
