ASOIAF/GoT, please (LOVE the "unpopular opinion"-question!)
Renée: House Martell.rogueslayer452 on November 25th, 2014 11:17 pm (UTC)

Favorite female character: Daenerys Targaryen, Sansa Stark, show!Shae, Margaery Tyrell, Ellaria Sand, and Arianne Martell.
Favorite male character: Oberyn Martell, book!Jaime
Least favorite character: Tyrion Lannister. I don't necessarily hate him per se, but I don't really understand the favoritism of his character. Also Davos and Stannis, because their story is just so boring to me, tbh.
Favorite ship: Ellaria/Oberyn, Dany/Jon Snow, Dany/show!Jorah, Sansa/freedom & happiness
Favorite friendship: SANSA AND SHAE. ♥ The one thing the show did right was create this lovely bond between them, and will forever be bitter that they neglected it entirely in S4. SMH. Also, Dany with her handmaidens, which I'm still very mad at the show about Irri and Doreah.
Favorite quote: "Woman? Is that meant to insult me? I would return the slap, if I took you for a man." (Daenerys Targaryen) Also, "Cunt again? It was odd how men like Suggs used that word to demean women when it was the only part of a woman they valued." (Asha Greyjoy)
Happiest moment: Seldom does this series have any happy moments that last before everything turns to shit. I think every little moment that Sansa believes she's okay for a little while is to be treasured, or thinking about when the Starks were all together in Winterfell because being separated from each other.
Saddest moment: TOO MANY. When Ned was beheaded, when Robb and Catelyn were killed, especially when Arya saw that her brother's direwolf's head was sewn onto his body, when Oberyn gets brutally killed, just a whole lot of scenes were sad to think about, and most of them feature the death of a character. Plus, I think it's saddest thinking about how certain characters were separated only to never see each other again. :(
Favorite location: Dorne but really who in their right mind would want to live in Westeros?
Unpopular opinion: I kinda wished the series had been adapted into a miniseries or a film franchise than an HBO series, and adapted by different people who understood and respect the story and narrative more than D&D do. Aside from the obvious grossness of D&D and how they're handling things that are handled much better in the books, there's just so much stuff that the show has been glossing over due to the time, budget and episode restrictions. I also think as much as the show deserves praise for bringing this political fantasy to life, especially with the first season, it also deserves an equal amount of criticism and the showrunners should take such things seriously instead of being incredibly dismissive and disrespectful to the valid concerns and complaints. Furthermore, I think ASOIAF is more woman-friendly than the show.

Renée: LotS. Kahlan/Cara.rogueslayer452 on November 25th, 2014 10:08 pm (UTC)

Favorite female character: Kahlan Amnell and Cara Mason
Favorite male character: Richard Cypher
Least favorite character: That girl Confessor played by Aimee Teegarden, like she was just unnecessary imho. Other than that, I can't think of any.
Favorite ship: Kahlan/Richard, Kahlan/Cara, Kahlan/Richard/Cara
Favorite friendship: THE ENTIRE TEAM AWESOME 'KAY. :D
Favorite quote: "Can we speed this up? She loves you, you love her. I should protect her as if she were you. Did I miss anything?" (Cara, always impatient and gets directly to the point, lol)
Happiest moment: Kahlan and Richard being cute together? The entire dream team being together? The fact that the series, which ended too soon, ended on a happy note? THIS SHOW IS ONE BIG HAPPY MOMENT FOR ME, TBH.
Saddest moment: I think when Cara was captured by her Mord'Sith sisters and was re-broken, and she was no longer the Cara we once knew. Of course Zedd had to use his wizardry to fix all of that, but still it was a sad moment because Cara FOUND HER OWN FAMILY and wasn't going to let them re-break her and take her away from that, but they found a way anyway. Also, when Cara was being tried and pleaded with Kahlan to Confess her and she wouldn't. :(((
Favorite location: Um, idk. The landscape of New Zealand? lol
Unpopular opinion: I honestly can't think of anything, tbh.

Renée: Thorin. Smile.rogueslayer452 on November 25th, 2014 11:07 am (UTC)

Favorite female character: Tauriel and Galadriel.
Favorite male character: THORIN OAKENSHIELD, MY BAE. ♥
Least favorite character: Azog, of course.
Favorite ship: Bilbo/Thorin, my OTP. (◕ω◕✿)
Favorite friendship: Bilbo and Thorin, Bilbo and the rest of the Company, Thorin and Dwalin.
Favorite quote: "If this is to end in fire, then we shall all burn together."
Happiest moment: BILBO AND THORIN HUG! Also from the extended edition where Bilbo vouches for Thorin in Laketown. ♥ ♥ ♥
Saddest moment: When Bilbo suddenly realizes that he wasn't himself in Mirkwood after killing that spider-thing to get the ring. That moment of recognition that something wasn't right with him, that all of that for a ring, just makes me sad because it's only the beginning for him for something he isn't aware of. Also it's such a parallel to what Thorin is dealing with regarding the gold sickness, another sad moment is with everyone comparing him to his grandfather, worrying about whether he might become what Thror became (including Thorin worrying about this himself), only to know that he does end up succumbing to the sickness. I can't think anything sadder than the fate Thorin has, along with the fates of Fili and Kili. :(((((
Favorite location: The Shire, but also Erebor pre-Smaug.
Unpopular opinion: I love Tauriel, and I find Kili/Tauriel adorable. I also have no qualms with them splitting the book into three films (if it was only one film we wouldn't have the same emotional impact we're having now with BOTFA), and I like the inclusion of the additional stuff for the story to seem more complete in this vast world that Tolkien had created. Basically, I love these films, with Desolation of Smaug is by far my favorite of the trilogy so far.

Renéerogueslayer452 on November 25th, 2014 10:41 am (UTC)
Thank you, sweetie. I feel like I'm getting sick, so that could be part of the problem.

MCU (including Agents of Shield)

Favorite female character: NATASHA. ♥ Skye, Melinda May, Jemma Simmons, and Bobbi Morse
Favorite male character: Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Thor
Least favorite character: Ward
Favorite ship: Natasha/Clint, Skye/Simmons, Simmons/Bobbi
Favorite friendship: Tony/Bruce, Skye/Simmons, Fitz/Simmons
Favorite quote: "Doth mother know you weareth her drapes?" and "You humans are so petty and tiny." Idky but these two lines are just so hilarious, lol.
Happiest moment: Tony and Bruce being science bros.
Saddest moment: Skye getting shot in AOS, and Simmons trying to hold it together in saving her, but still breaking down. Also Skye finding out about Ward.
Favorite location: Um, Stark Tower.
Unpopular opinion: I don't think I have one at the moment? At least not for the films. With AOS, my only unpopular opinion is that I don't mind Ward being a villain, but I definitely don't want him being redeemed. I want him to be unapologetic in what he does without any means of excusing his actions through ~brainwashing or him being ~misunderstood. I definitely don't want him to rejoin with the SHIELD team, and I most definitely don't want him and Skye to be together, regardless of how it all turns out. Skye is worth more than that, and deserves much, much better.

Renée: BTVS. Buffy Summers.rogueslayer452 on November 25th, 2014 07:39 am (UTC)

Favorite female character: Faith Lehane! ♥ Followed by Buffy and Dawn.
Favorite male character: Giles, Angel
Least favorite character: Spike in the later seasons, also Willow in the later seasons, the Trio (Warren, Andrew and Jonathan), Xander and Riley
Favorite ship: Faith/Buffy, Buffy/Angel
Favorite friendship: Buffy and Tara.
Favorite quote: "I'm standing on the mouth of Hell and it's gonna swallow me whole. And it'll choke on me."
Happiest moment: Tara being accepted by Buffy and the rest of the Scooby Gang in "Family", just emphasized the entire created family aspect that I love so much.
Saddest moment: The entirety of "Surprise"/"Innocence" and "The Body". Like, there are plenty of sad moments on the show but there were episodes that really just set the tone for exactly what you were getting into, and how it would forever affect these characters. Furthermore, I like how these particular episodes affected Buffy in such a fundamental way, first with the revelation of that her sleeping with Angel caused him to lose his soul and become Angelus, and then in S5 with Buffy finding her mother dead on the couch. Also moments like in "Prophecy Girl" with Buffy saying, "Giles I'm sixteen years old, I don't wanna die.", which is really heartbreaking. Just all the emotions, all of them.
Favorite location: The Bronze. I thought it was super cool that there was a local club for teenagers and young adults to go hang out at.
Unpopular opinion: I love Dawn, I loved her the moment she appeared and I have loved her story and her growth as a character. I never understood the hate she got, like it seems rather petty in a way for that severe hatred to continue, imho. Also as I've gotten older and revisited the series all these years later, I've come to not really like Willow all that much especially in the later seasons, and it goes beyond her dependency on magic to solve all her problems and to avoid responsibility. Just the way she treated Buffy, the way she mistreated Tara despite knowing her history with abuse, the way she seemed to not learn from her mistakes and not even consider the consequences of her actions. I just have so many issues with Willow that I'm kind of pissed that I didn't recognize it before. Oh, and I wouldn't have minded there being an exploration of Buffy's severe depression (which had been building for seasons now, lbr) and other darker, more adult themes in the sixth season had it made sense. The show has succeeded in going to that place before, as we'd seen. But S6 was just a huge mess of overloading with all the dark shit at once without much rhyme or reason for it aside from making everyone look like egotistical assholes, along with things that didn't make sense for the already existing mythos (magic addition = drug addition? the fuck kind of nonsense was that shit?) that it just was so unlikeable. On that note, I didn't really mind S7, and in fact I liked the Potential Slayers. I only wished that the First Evil had been introduced as the Biggest Big Bad for the series end a bit earlier to make it more intertwined. I also didn't like that Spike was made the Champion, especially since it made little difference considering he resurrected onto Angel anyway due to his "fan favorite" status or whatever.

(As you can tell, I have a lot of unpopular opinions, lol)

Lord of the Rings? (Someone already asked for MCU, but if you want to do that again instead, please do.)
Renéerogueslayer452 on November 25th, 2014 06:12 am (UTC)

Favorite female character: Galadriel and Arwen
Favorite male character: Aragorn
Least favorite character: Denethor
Favorite ship: Aragorn/Arwen, Legolas/Gimli
Favorite friendship: BOROMIR AND HIS HOBBITS. ♥ Legolas and Gimli, Pippin and Merry, Pippin and Faramir.
Favorite quote: "And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend. Legend became myth. And for two and a half thousand years, the ring passed out of all knowledge.", I just really find this very interesting and sad because it's very true when it comes to history. Most times history becomes to much of stuff of legend or myth that it eventually becomes either erased or forgotten over time, even if it's something incredibly important.
Happiest moment: Anything in the Shire, really. In the film as soon as we hear the "Concerning Hobbits" theme it's impossible to not smile. :) Also the more lighthearted moments, like Pippin and Merry's antics in Fellowship, for example.
Saddest moment: Everyone grieving for Gandalf after he falls in Moria, when Boromir gets shot multiple times with the arrows protecting Merry and Pippin and when he is dying in Aragorn's arms; when Frodo casts Sam away, when Haldir died.
Favorite location: The Shire, Rivendell and Lothlórien.
Unpopular opinion: While I agree that it would have been awesome to have seen some of the other stuff left out from the books, such as the Scouring of the Shire which would have been interesting to see on the big screen, I can understand the need to not place that in. Peter Jackson might not have been perfect with some of the decisions made (i.e. killing off Haldir even though he never died), but he already went above and beyond any expectations for the creation of Middle-earth. I think the films did a marvelous job at bringing this vast world that Tolkien created to life. Also, a very unpopular opinion of mine is that I wouldn't have minded to have seen Arwen being in battle as PJ was originally intending. And in a way I can understand the reason for not including it, since it wouldn't have fit for the character canonically, but regardless I thought it would have been awesome seeing another woman in battle, since Arwen already previously proved that she could take care of herself against enemies early on in FOTR. Which also explains my love for the addition of Tauriel in The Hobbit.

Gilmore Girls!
Renéerogueslayer452 on November 25th, 2014 05:41 am (UTC)

Favorite female character: Lorelai! ♥
Favorite male character: Luke
Least favorite character: I've come to realize that most of the guys on this show, save a few, were dicks.
Favorite ship: Luke/Lorelai
Favorite friendship: Rory and Paris. And the mother/daughter relationship between Rory and Lorelai, of course. ♥
Favorite quote: "I'm afraid that once your heart is involved, it all comes out in moron." Also, I say, "Dirty!" a lot, thank you Lorelai. ;) But this show had so many quotable moments I literally cannot pick an absolute favorite without thinking of another that I loved.
Happiest moment: Pretty much any happy mother/daughter moment between Rory and Lorelai, and all of Luke and Lorelai's playful bickering and cute little moments. :)
Saddest moment: Luke and Lorelai breaking up, the scene where Lorelai yells "it hurts! standing here with you is killing me!" to Christopher, any time Rory and Lorelai had a fight, whenever Lorelai cried. :(
Favorite location: Stars Hollow, specifically Luke's Diner and the Dragonfly Inn.
Unpopular opinion: I don't hate Rory? I think a lot of the mistakes came from the writers and I disliked a lot of the decisions they made the characters make along the way, especially in the later seasons, and I didn't agree with a lot of what the character did at times but I didn't hate Rory as most of the fandom seems to.

Renée: Nikita. Femme Fatale.rogueslayer452 on November 25th, 2014 08:10 am (UTC)

Favorite female character: Nikita, followed closely by Alex
Favorite male character: Michael, Owen, Birkhoff
Least favorite character: Percy
Favorite ship: Nikita/Michael, Alex/Sean, Alex/Owen
Favorite friendship: Nikita and Alex. ♥
Favorite quote: "That's the difference between you and me, Percy. You'll kill anyone, I don't waste life." Oh, another isn't really a quote but I loved how Nikita calls Birkoff "Nerd" as his nickname.
Happiest moment: The little moments of Nikita's little family being together. I just thought it was sweet that before it was just her by herself, but then over the course of the series she gained this little ragtag family hiding out with her from Division.
Saddest moment: When Alex and Nikita parted ways after Alex learned the truth about Nikita's involvement in what happened with her parents. Like, I knew it was going to happen, it was inevitable, but damn it just hurt regardless. Also Sean's death. And when Nikita had to cut off Michael's hand which ultimately changed the dynamic in their relationship for a time, that was both shocking and sad.
Favorite location: I liked where Nikita was residing at in S1, it was a nice spacious place, and then Birkhoff's home later as their hideaway spot.
Unpopular opinion: Aside from preferring Amanda to Percy as the main antagonist, I don't think I have any?

Renée: Dollhouse. Victor/Sierra.rogueslayer452 on November 25th, 2014 12:03 pm (UTC)

Favorite female character: Sierra and Echo
Favorite male character: Victor, Dominic
Least favorite character: Nolan
Favorite ship: Victor/Sierra
Favorite friendship: Sierra and Echo
Favorite quote: " If I think I can figure things out, is that curiosity or arrogance?"
Happiest moment: The fact that Victor and Sierra got to have a happily ever after? At least as happy as they could get in that future they were in?
Saddest moment: When Paul got shot and Echo had to compartmentalize it until she just broke down. I mean, I don't really ship it but that was heartbreaking. Also, the entire backstory on Sierra/Priya.
Favorite location: Despite its purpose and use, I did like the interior design of the Dollhouse itself. It was so aesthetically pleasing to me, and I honestly wouldn't mind having those sleep pods to cocoon myself in.
Unpopular opinion: While I liked Echo well enough, I actually felt that the main character should have been Sierra/Priya since her story fit more to the morality of the whole aspect of the Dollhouse. She was forced into the Dollhouse against her will by a crazed rapist who wanted nothing more than to treat her like a sexualized doll (and he wasn't the only one, as the former agent of the Dollhouse who was sent to the Attic also sexually abused her while she was in her Doll state which is even more creepy), and even though her episode where she got to get her revenge was nicely done, I wished the series had been about her getting her personality back somehow and fighting her way to stop the heinous atrocities the Dollhouse and Rossum commit. Like, I feel like her story should have been about her keeping her personality while other Dolls like Echo possibly coming into their own and helping her, etc. Because I felt the whole Echo/Caroline being the savior for them all thing was kind of, well, contrived a bit. Someone like Sierra staring a revolution would have been a much better story to tell, imho.

Dark Angel.
Renée: Dark Angel. Max Guevara.rogueslayer452 on November 25th, 2014 09:45 pm (UTC)

Favorite female character: Max Guevara
Favorite male character: Zack, Logan, Sketchy and Herbal were two minor recurring characters I enjoyed a lot. I also liked Lydecker's role a lot, because he started out as being the main bad guy, but then later on we learn that there are bigger threats, so his priorities shifted.
Least favorite character: Alec, Ames White
Favorite ship: Max/Zack
Favorite friendship: Max and Original Cindy
Favorite quote: "Girls kick ass, says so on a t-shirt."
Happiest moment: When Max was reunited with her siblings, even though they were short-lived.
Saddest moment: When they had to leave Brin behind to be taken back to Manticore, and when Max had to kill Ben. Also when Zack killed himself to save Max, with no hesitation on his end. Just the fact that he sacrificed himself several times prior to that to save her really speaks volumes, and there is no doubt in my mind that he loved her.
Favorite location: Jam Pony and Crash
Unpopular opinion: As much as I loved the entire series, I preferred S1 over S2. I felt S2 had an overwhelming shift in storyline priorities and too much plot clutter. I wanted more of Max's mission to find the rest of her X5 family and possibly even going further into finding her biological mother. I know they were setting up for more things to be revealed later, particularly with Max and her special destiny or whatever, but it just felt like there was too much information that was too rushed in a short amount of time. It wasn't the steady flow of a story and plot that S1 was. I also have found that I really don't like Alec and wished that they had minimized his presence on the show.

I don't know, I'm hoping it's not or that I can prevent it from getting worse. :/

Favorite female character: Kenzi and Tamsin
Favorite male character: Dyson
Least favorite character: Rainer (srsly why did he exist?), Lauren (would only like her better if they actually spent time on giving her a concrete storyline and have us understand her as a character rather than, you know, that human scientist and Bo's on-again/off-again girlfriend).
Favorite ship: Bo/Tamsin (♥), Bo/Dyson, Bo/Dyson/Tamsin
Favorite friendship: BO AND KENZI. ♥ Also the beautiful friendship that formed between Kenzi and Tamsin in S4.
Favorite quote: "You technically can't steal from a dead guy. Seriously, it's a thing. Ask museums."
Happiest moment: SEEING TAM-TAM'S BEAUTIFUL FACE. :3 And just any Bo and Kenzi moments, really, they are the center core of the entire show for me. Hell, if this show was just about Bo, Kenzi and Tamsin going around dealing with clients and having crazy wacky antics, I'd be the most happy.
Favorite location: The Dál
Unpopular opinion: I don't like Bo and Lauren together as a couple. This is apparently a very unpopular opinion in fandom as it seem you have to support the canon lesbian couple no matter what, and I tried, but I just can't with these two. Something irks me about their relationship, and idk whether it's Lauren's attitude towards Bo sometimes or that there's no chemistry between them, or the constant competition drama on having a "claim" on Bo's relationship status. I just don't know. But they don't fit together imho. I worry that in the final season that Lauren may turn herself Fae so she can stay with Bo forever and ever, which I'd call bullshit on the show if they ever pulled that nonsense.

Favorite female character: Cordelia, Fred (and later Illyria)
Favorite male character: Angel, Gunn and Lorne
Least favorite character: Most of the Wolfram & Hart people, except for Lilah.
Favorite ship: Angel/Cordelia, Fred/Gunn
Favorite friendship: Angel and Faith. ♥
Favorite quote: "You don't change a guy like that. In fact, generally speaking, don't change a guy. What you see is what you get. Scratch the surface and what do you find? More surface."
Happiest moment: Angel going "I don't dance" after that hilarious little imaginary montage of him just dancing like a complete and utter nerd. ;p The cavemen versus astronauts debate. "Can everybody just notice how much fire I'm not on?!" Angel getting whammied with the feels in "Sense and Sensibility". Faith getting her redemption arc in the show, something I'm really incredibly happy about for the sake of her character. Same with getting further character development for Cordelia and Wesley.
Saddest moment: The ending of "I Will Remember You", just the fact that only Angel would remember and Buffy wouldn't with their time together and the events, and the utter desperation in Buffy's voice with her not wanting to forget. It broke my heart. :(
Favorite location: Hyperion Hotel, though I did like that office they had in S1 which, while not exactly spacious, had a bit more intimacy to it. It also matched Angel's personality at the beginning of the series, all dark and concealed.
Unpopular opinion: I didn't mind Connor, in fact it made sense with his attitude given that he was a.) a teenager and b.) raised by someone else in a hell dimension to believe that Angel was the bad guy. I'm guessing the hate for him was similar to hate for Dawn in that nobody really wanted to deal with a teenager.

Battlestar Galactica.
Renée: Battlestar Galactica.rogueslayer452 on November 27th, 2014 07:50 am (UTC)

Favorite female character: Six (all incarnations), Sharon (Boomer and Athena), D'Anna, Kendra Shaw
Favorite male character: Helo, Gaius Baltar
Least favorite character: Cavil, most of the Pegasus crew when we first meet them
Favorite ship: Helo/Athena, Six/Gaius, Kara/Sam
Favorite friendship: Kara and Helo
Favorite quote: "You said that humanity was a flawed creation, and that people still kill one another for petty jealousy and greed. You said that humanity never asked itself why it deserved to survive. Maybe you don't."
Happiest moment: Athena and Helo are reunited with Hera. That little moment between Helo and Kara at the end of "Scar", which lbr that was all Katee and Tahmoh. Seeing the flashbacks to everyone on New Caprica just having a brief respite. "Daybreak" and seeing my OTPs together. ♥
Saddest moment: When Athena is "shown" that Hera "died" prematurely in the incubator and she is crying and then starts flipping out. When Natalie is killed. Gina's entire story. That S4 midseason finale and what happens afterwards, particularly with Dee. Kat sacrificing herself. There's just so many sad and depressing moments in this show like, it's hard to pick just one.
Favorite location: Kobol, the Galactica
Unpopular opinion: I loved "Daybreak" and will forever defend it. I thought the concept of "Black Market" was interesting, it was just executed horribly with an unnecessary storyline for Lee. I also don't ship Kara/Lee. I liked their dynamic well enough as friends and fighter pilots, but I felt everything surrounding them being together romantically was unhealthy and they kind of brought out the worst in each other because of it. I mean, just the fact that they married different people either out of fear or out of spite of the other only to cheat on their spouses with each other says enough. Yes it's meant to be messed up and complicated, but it really didn't have to be to that extent, and I honestly think that if they ever got together officially they wouldn't last because they wouldn't truly be happy.

(I probably have others, but these are the only ones I can think of at the moment.)

Favorite female character: Hermione Granger, Luna Lovegood, Cho Chang
Favorite male character: Draco Malfoy, Harry Potter
Least favorite character: Umbridge, Cornelius Fudge, Snape, Dumbledore (in the way he conducted and executed things, especially regarding Harry)
Favorite ship: Harry/Draco (♥), Harry/Hermione, Hermione/Krum, Harry/Luna, Harry/Cho, Remus/Sirius, Lucius/Narcissa
Favorite friendship: Harry and Hermione, Remus and Sirius
Favorite quote: Not a singular quote, but the many times in the books when Harry was sarcastic. ;p
Happiest moment: When Harry first arrives at Hogwarts, and just his never-ending wonder of magic.
Saddest moment: I still remember my ultimate denial over Sirius dying. Also, Hedwig's death is super sad. I know it was symbolic, but dammit, no. :( Everything with what was happening with Draco in HBP and DH.
Favorite location: Hogsmeade
Unpopular opinion: I don't ship Ron/Hermione or Harry/Ginny. In fact, I don't think I ship any of the canonical couples aside from Lucius/Narcissa.
