01. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
I like wrapping gifts, they may not be perfectly wrapped but I like a certain aesthetic about having wrapped presents underneath the tree. Of course gift bags are good, too, for convenience and for better clean up than wrapping paper.
02. Real tree or Artificial?
Growing up we used to do a real tree, but in later years we started doing artificial because it was too much of a hassle to go and get the right kind of tree, having to water it, and then afterwards taking it out and cleaning up the needles on the floor. It was too much of money wasted. We bought a pre-lit tree from QVC which had both color and white lights and has lasted us ten years. Unfortunately, the lights now have just gone out and we have to string up lights now on top of the burnt out ones. It sucks, but considering its life span it had a pretty good run.
03. When do you put up the tree?
We usually put it up around the first week of December, of course lately it seems to be put up later and later.
04. When do you take the tree down?
Late January. I like to preserve the Christmas spirit just a little longer.
05. Do you like eggnog?
06. Favorite gift received as a child?
Nothing I can recall sticks out.
07. Hardest person to buy for?
I was going to say my dad, but he asks for the same thing every year, so that's pretty easy if predictable. I would say anyone who doesn't give me a list of things they want.
08. Easiest person to buy for?
My mom and my sister.
09. Do you have a nativity scene?
10. Mail or email Christmas cards?
Mail, there's something more personal and special about specific Christmas cards being physically delivered, and I love the different designs and artwork for each of them. I haven't been doing that lately, though, simply because I always wait until the last minute of writing them out and sending them and I get so stressed out. :(
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
I don't think I've ever had an absolute worst one.
12. Favorite Christmas Movie?
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, always and forever. ♥
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
Whenever I can before Christmas, tbh.
14. Have you ever re-gifted a Christmas present?
Yes. I usually do so for generic things and nothing too specific, or if it's something I already own and didn't get the receipt for. Stuff like that. If it's something picked out specifically for me, as in something special someone got me, then I don't re-gift it.
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
As a kid we used to visit relatives for Christmas dinner, which would be a wide variety of similar things you'd find at Thanksgiving (mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, stuffing, etc.) Of course things have changed and dinner is at home and not as hugely prepared. In recent years my favorite thing to eat is mashed potatoes, these specific bread rolls my mother makes along with this really delicious stew that is delicious.
16. Lights on the tree?
Absolutely! There has never not been lights on our Christmas tree, either white or colors or just both, I'm not picky. I want lights everywhere, to be honest.
17. Favorite Christmas song?
** "Carol of the Bells", pretty much every rendition but I most favor the Trans Siberian Orchestra version and the one from Home Alone.
** "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" by Aly and AJ
** "All I Want For Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey, because obviously you have to have the classic.
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home?
Stay at home. When we used to visit relatives they were all living close by that we would make sure our schedules meshed so we could plan Christmas dinners and visits and whatnot, but we rarely traveled outside of the state or city to do this. I would much rather remain at home during this time of the year, anyway. Unless, of course, if we were to travel where there's snow. Because I would LOVE to have a snowy Christmas just once.
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner Blitzen, and Rudolph.
20. Angel on the tree top or a star?
We had a plastic angel, which we used for years when I was a kid. Ever since getting an artificial tree, though, we haven't placed anything on the top of the tree (or even decorate it in general like we used to).
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?
Both. Growing up we would visit with relatives for Christmas dinner and then open presents with them, and then we would open up presents at home on Christmas morning. Of course later things have shifted and changed and have gotten reversed, so now it's presents with our mom on Christmas Eve and then Christmas morning we open presents with our father.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year?
SHOPPING. As soon as Black Friday happens, going to the store even to buy simple mundane every day things is a nightmare. I hate crowded stores, I get incredibly claustrophobic and anxious and it stresses me out. I try to go early in the morning to avoid the crowds, but it's still pretty busy regardless because everyone else has the exact same mindset. Shopping is hell, the traffic is a nightmare, the stupids come out and it just, ugh. NO. I HATE IT. And with that I say, thank god for online shopping.
23. Favorite ornament theme or color?
I just like lights and things that sparkle. That's just in general, really. If I could I would decorate the entire house with string lights and candles and things to reflect the light off of. Not that our house looks anything like that, but I try what I can with what we got!
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner?
I already answered this in #15, which is pretty much stew, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, bread rolls and cornbread stuffing.
25. What do you want for Christmas this year?
Richard Armitage? (◕ω◕✿)
