++ Here's a Harry Potter Fandom Friending Meme and a Happy Things Friending Meme.

++ First promo for the second season of Agent Carter. Yaaass!

++ I've finally been listening to the Hamilton soundtrack, and it's absolutely fantastic just as everyone says it is. I love that it's a historical hip-hop Broadway musical, the cast made of entirely of POC (playing the Founding Fathers, no less!), and that it's become so successful and gotten critical acclaim in such a short amount of time since it debuted. I highly recommend everyone start listening to it if you haven't already, because it's just so damn good.

January 5th (or 6th for people who aren't in the US time zones) is gonna be so busy: Agent Carter / Shannara / Teen Wolf (they changed the day). Plus, Shadowhunters starts the week after.

This is where I'm glad I end up binge-watching a lot of the shows, since I wouldn't be able to catch up on everything. Regardless, I am pretty excited for Agent Carter to return, the promo looks extra fun. And of course I already mentioned my curiosity of Shannara.
Laeryn: alien queenslaeryn on November 18th, 2015 03:12 pm (UTC)
Gosh I love Bear McCreary's OSTs. Also omg Aaliyah, and I love and know all the lyrics to Wonder Woman lmao. Great list in general tho!
Renée: Nikita. Femme Fatale.rogueslayer452 on November 19th, 2015 08:07 am (UTC)
Bear McCreary is pretty much a musical mastermind. I love that he's been getting a lot of work with various projects, from television to video games. I love everything he does, even if I don't watch the stuff he composes for. I also love that he involves his wife, Raya Yarbrough, and his brother in most of what he does. ♥

I love Aaliyah. "Are You That Somebody" was my first song introduction to her back in the day, and I remember being so crushed when they announced her death. My playlist has all her songs.

"Wonder Woman" is such a good song, omg. I love it when Namie collabs with different artists, especially with AI. They are a good duo, and it makes me wish that Suite Chic made a comeback.

Thank you! :)

It honestly is so amazing. Learning how Lin-Manuel Miranda has been working on this musical for so many years, and how it has gotten so successful within this last year, is pretty damn remarkable. I'm not that well versed in musical theatre, but I can already tell that it is incredibly well-done. The music alone is outstanding. It tells the story brilliantly. Just. ♥

It does seem to be more focused on fanfiction preferences than the actual books themselves, which is okay. But certainly not for everyone who isn't that involved with that side of the fandom.

And you're welcome! I'm so excited that Peggy is coming back to our screens. :D

I'm so jealous of people getting to see Hamilton. He's one of my historical heroes and I lovelovelove him and I want to see Hamilton so bad! And it's so sad that it's one of those musicals that I just can't see ever making it to the West End like so many other Broadway musicals do. Because the vast vast majority of the British public will never have heard of Alexander Hamilton and I just can't see it being a success over here in the way it is in America, without that cultural background to inform it.

I'll just have to scrimp and save and maybe one day get over to Broadway...
sherrilina: Alexander Hamilton (Hamilton)sherrilina on November 18th, 2015 04:13 pm (UTC)
They have already confirmed it is coming to London--2017 I think! ;) Its popularity transcends nationalities, lol. (And hey, Hamilton was kind of an Anglophile in his foreign policy after the war, lbr. :p)

I love him too--my appreciation has grown astronomically since listening to the musical though and reading more about him (did you read the Chernow bio?). I assume you have listened to the music at least? I like that this is available, since it's almost like seeing it in person.
Denorios: WW josh squeedenorios on November 18th, 2015 04:16 pm (UTC)
Really? Seriously? OMG! You've made my life! And maybe it won't be too hard to get tickets, since, as I said, most people won't have a clue who he is...

I love Ron Chernow's book. I've read it twice, both times sobbing and cursing Aaron Burr at the end. Maybe if I read it a third time the ending will change and he'll die an old man in his bed. They say third time's the charm...
sherrilina: Alexander Hamilton (Hamilton)sherrilina on November 18th, 2015 04:25 pm (UTC)
Yep! Last article I saw they were looking at possible venues, and Lin said he would be honored at the chance to open it there (so you would probably want to aim for a very early ticket!). Given how HUGE it is here and online internationally, fandom wise, I wouldn't be so sure about nobody there knowing who he is by 2017. ;)

And wow, twice! Lol I plan to tackle it next year, but I finally bought it and am excited...working on "Founding Brothers" by Ellis now, have you read that one? (I see Ellis has a new one featuring Hamilton and others during the period between the Revolution and the constitution called "The Quartet.")

And heh, I have to say I have come to appreciate Aaron Burr a lot more through the musical as well--before all I knew was that he shot Hamilton and supposedly tried to become king of Louisiana/was a crazy person. But I love how fleshed out he is in the musical!
sherrilina: Alexander Hamilton (Hamilton)sherrilina on November 18th, 2015 04:10 pm (UTC)
Ahhhhh so happy to see another f-lister  succumb to Hamilton! :DDD I legit whooped when I saw your entry title. I have been submerged in Lin-sanity and Hamilton obsession for a month and a half now, with no sign of abating...I posted earlier my initial thoughts/review here and more history nerdage/geeking out about the show and Lin here. I too am super happy to see it doing so well and getting so much acclaim (although price-wise I might have liked it to do a little less well, haha).

What are your favorite songs at the moment? After 1.5 months of listening to it constantly I've found a lot of songs have grown on me/shifted around in my personal rankings.

I might snag this meme--love the BSG OST as well! I don't have "The Dance" though, is that from Colonial Day? I have The Passage of Time, Kara Remembers, Battlestar Sonatica, Prelude to War, Gaius/Six's Wedding March The Shape of Things to Come, and Prologue. My favorites are Prelude and The Shape of Things to Come. <33

Also I hope Agent Carter gets on Netflix soon, I still haven't had a chance to catch up...
Renée: Battlestar Galactica.rogueslayer452 on November 19th, 2015 10:43 am (UTC)
I couldn't resist using that line, it was an excellent burn. ;)

I knew I would end up liking it since it seems right up my alley (hip-hop + musicals, like holy shit), and it didn't disappoint. I love how it merges together and works so wonderfully. I haven't seen anything else aside from the pictures and stuff that has been circulating Tumblr, so I'll be checking out the interviews and other things from the cast soonishly.

What are your favorite songs at the moment? After 1.5 months of listening to it constantly I've found a lot of songs have grown on me/shifted around in my personal rankings.

I need to listen to the soundtrack again, but the ones that really stuck out for me were "Cabinet Battle #1" (because damn that one got me good, the truest epic rap battle of history), "Right Hand Man", "Guns and Ships", "Washington On Your Side" (this song goes hard, especially the "southern motherfucking democratic republicans!" part). Again, I need to listen to the entire thing again (and again and again) to really determine more of the songs a bit better and see which ones will grow on me overtime, but those are my favorites at the moment.

I don't have "The Dance" though, is that from Colonial Day?

It's from the third season, the episode "Unfinished Business" where we have the flashback to them being on New Caprica.

"Prelude To War" is such a hardcore track, and "The Shade Of Things To Come" will forever be the Six/Gaius anthem. I think my favorite track has to be their cover of "All Along The Watchtower", and the versions of "Apocalypse", which is the variation of the main theme. I have pretty much all the BSG OST, including Blood & Chrome and Caprica. Bear McCreary is possibly one of my favorite composers because he just does such a phenomenal job with creating music for a different range of things. ♥

Agent Carter! January is so busy with either returning or new shows. Good thing I didn't really pick up too many new shows this Fall.

There are some shows that I've been curious about this season, but the only show I've been watching consistently has been Supergirl. The others I will probably catch up on later, but mid-season shows/returning shows will be coming up soon and I'm just trying to keep track on what days they'll be on.

The list doesn't even do my music collection justice. When I say I listen to everything, I mean I listen to everything. No matter what genre, era, or language, whatever my ears like.

I'm excited, too! It looks like it's going to be so much fun. :D

It's such a wonderful soundtrack, I definitely recommend it. I wish I could see the actual production of it, of course.

Thank you for the link to the Hamilton soundtrack. I keep seeing it around on Tumblr, but didn't have the time yet to even look into it. Maybe I will start with that vid when I find the time.

And hey- great list I have to say, you definitely have a good taste in music ;)
Renée: Inara Serra. Radiance.rogueslayer452 on November 19th, 2015 12:57 am (UTC)
I also heard a lot about it through Tumblr before I saw it practically everywhere else, and I have always been curious from the photos from the production and just everyone talking about it, but I never heard anything from the musical itself. Then I finally looked up the entire playlist on YouTube. And I was blown away. So I hope you like it once you find the time to listen to it proper, as well.

And thank you, darling. :)

I keep holding off on listening to Hamilton because I have this dream that I will actually go see it on stage. I mean I live in NYC! What even is the point of living in NYC if I don't go see these things! But tickets are SO EXPENSIVE. It's madness. It's unbelievable. Cheapest tickets I could find, for like next year, on a weekday, was over $200! Part of me feels like I should bite the bullet and do it since it's such a huge cultural hit, but the other part of me is like $200+!!!!
Renéerogueslayer452 on November 23rd, 2015 04:23 am (UTC)
I'm not at all surprised with how expensive it is, though it is disappointing considering how many people want to see it but can't because it's so costly.

I think if you're determined enough to go, perhaps saving up for next year might be a good idea?
