March Question Meme: Day Twenty-Nine
Asked by icecoldrain:

Are you a gamer? If so, what game made an impact on your life?

Yes, I am. As a disclaimer, my definition of being a gamer is this: if you love playing video games and are invested with the stories and plots, you're a gamer. It doesn't matter whether you've spent hours playing or have just started, if you love playing you are considered a gamer in my eyes. None of this hardcore elitist nonsense.

The game that has impacted my life was actually the very first video game I became personally invested in, which was Tomb Raider. I had discovered the game way back in elementary school through one of my childhood best friends, it was either the first or second of the first era of the game during the mid-to-late nineties. And while I didn't keep up with the different releases of that game, it was my introduction to other games that could be played on the computer. Despite falling behind with the continued updates over the years, it certainly made an impression on me in terms of gaming, as I consider Lara Croft to be one of my favorite influential fictional/video game characters. So much in fact that I loved the movies with Angelina Jolie and I was very excited when learning that there was a comic crossover with Tomb Raider and Witchblade. I currently have the 2013 Tomb Raider game, and I'm waiting to purchase the 2015 one. Lara Croft was a big part of my formative years, so that impact definitely runs deep.

That's one of the few games (well, the new installments) that I can watch Paul play and not want to scream. I get bored watching most game play, but TR is pretty badass, ngl. I haven't played it myself, but that's because I pretty much just play Destiny, Halo, and Knight Squad.
