There are many copies...
++ The Battlestar Galactica reunion recently happened at the ATX Festival, which there are official EW portraits of the cast who attended. Just viewing those pictures and even seeing them all these lovely together again makes me so nostalgic for the show. BSG has been, and will always be, one of my absolute favorite television series of all time and as I mentioned before I really kind of want there to be a resurgence of the fandom; let people discover the brilliance of the show, get fandom more active again, bring on more merchandising, etc.

++ An official photoshoot with the main characters of Marvel's television series (Netflix's Marvel lineup and ABC's Agents of SHIELD) makes me want there to be a crossover so badly. It won't ever happen aside from maybe possibly making vague references to one another, but a girl can dream. Hell, I've already been having plenty of plotbunnies hopping around for a while now.

++ So the announcement trailer was released regarding the Life Is Strange prequel game, Life Is Strange: Before The Storm. Sadly, it seems that voice actress Ashly Burch, who voiced Chloe Price, won't be playing the character in the prequel due to the prolonged and still ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, which Square Enix decided to go with a non-union actress instead. Reading Ashly's comments about this difficult decision she had to make, also about how unfairly voice actors are often treated within the industry in general, it just honestly sucks all around. I admit to not being that knowledgeable on this particular topic, but reading that article and some other ones has given me a bit of a perspective on the sacrifices voice actors have to make.

I finished my 3rd or 4th (I don't remember) BSG rewatch just last night... best show ever, every time I finish it I want to start it all over again, because nothing compares to it!!

And it's so underrated it drives me mad.

(and hi, by the way.. I don't think we have ever really talked, I'm not very active on LJ, I never post, just read my friends' list).

Lol hello there! :p Small world...

I was working on a full rewatch (well starting randomly from early season 2) earlier this year (starting on Inauguration Day as a distraction, blech), but had to stop at the end of season 3 because my shows had begun to air and I was behind. I'm so glad it is on a streaming platform I get again!

Heyyyyy!!

I fell behind wih some of my shows because of my BSG marathon, but I don't care... BSG is better anyway.

I just love this show so much, and it saddens me to read all the criticism and bashing about it, in particular towards the finale, which I adore. Of course, I'm reading old reviews and comments, just because I can and I'm a masochist!! ;)

I've done so many rewatches of BSG I think I've lost count. But I haven't done so in a while, so I think I'm due for another rewatch session. Granted I'm also in the middle of catching up on other shows, but what a better way to procrastinate than watch something I've already seen many times? lol

And it's so underrated it drives me mad.

The thing that gets me is that it's not even an underrated show, because otherwise it wouldn't have been so critically acclaimed and well-known when it was airing. But rather it's become so underappreciated after the show finished. Even on places like Tumblr it isn't even revisited as much as it should be or people aren't discovering it along with other fandoms from before Tumblr and honestly? That makes me so sad and disappointed and slightly miffed, y'know? BSG is such a relevant show, so important and honestly one of the best science fiction shows I've seen, and the fact that the fandom basically just disappeared after the series ended is disheartening. We honestly do need a resurgence.

Yeah, underrated wasn't really the term I was looking for. Underappreciated and overlooked, was what I wanted to say.

I've recently joined an Italian Facebook group of TV series lovers, and BSG is completely ignored by people, comepletely unpopular, as opposed to other seriously crappy shows that people rave about. I try to recommend BSG to people, but they are not really interested. Sad, really.

I guess the genre doesn't help, scifi is often frowned upon by the general public.

Anyway, I'm totally here for a fandom resurgence (I wasn't around when the show was airing, I watched it after it had already ended, unfortunately)!! :)

This is the sad truth, unfortunately. Even when BSG was airing people who were just discovering it, sometimes by accident and other times through other people, they were surprised at how good it was. Genre television in general is often overlooked by many, which is something I honestly don't understand.

Battlestar Galactica is a show I often recommend to people because, not only is it my favorite show, it is just so damn amazing. I try to explain and convince them that even if scifi isn't typically their thing, they'll still enjoy the show. I mean, BSG in general is essentially a space opera, and features many elements that can attract all sorts of viewers. I also try to convince others that if they like Firefly (and for current shows The 100, Dark Matter or The Expanse) then they'll definitely like BSG.

THIIIIS! MTE! Ugh it pains me how small the fandom is (especially since I did come late, after the show had finished airing), and this past weekend at the local con I was annoyed once again at how absent it was: I could count the available BSG merch I saw for sale in the exhibit hall and artists' alley area on practically one hand, saw maybe 1-2 pilots costumes the whole time, and for the 5th straight year there were absolutely no BSG guests. Pretty much every other fandom has had an actor show up, from Dark Matter and Lost Girl to OuaT to SPN to BTVS to Doctor Who, LOTR, and Harry Potter, various cartoons, but never BSG. :( I'd even take an actor I didn't like much from the new show, at this point! And yes more merch, like more Funkyos from the NEW show dammit! *sigh*

And ugh that photo of James Callis, lmao, so hot and funny! <33 He still has it, I would love to meet him someday.

P.S. have you ever played the BSG board game? Soooo fun, especially IG you are a fan of the show. Really recreates the same atmosphere.
Renée: Battlestar Galactica.rogueslayer452 on June 20th, 2017 08:39 pm (UTC)
I was at a local Wizard World convention over the weekend and Edward James Olmos was there, so at least we had him representing the show somewhat. But other than that, there honestly was no merchandising for it or anything on the vending floor people were selling. It's kind of disheartening that such an iconic show isn't even talked about much or represented enough even at conventions. I mean sure, I understand the supply and demand factor and that conventions and other places go for what is currently popular and what will sell more, but still. It's kind of why I'm hoping for an anniversary of sorts so the show gets more attention, more recognition, and there to be a resurgence of people just discovering the show for the first time or revisiting it.

And I second having another line of the new BSG characters. Having Kara, Six and a Cylon Centurion was great, but we need more of the other characters, please. (Then again, Pop Funko is often weird when it comes to when to release certain lines from a certain franchise; they don't even have all of the Firefly characters out yet, ffs.)

I unfortunately haven't. I really want to though!

Great BSG pictures! Same for Marvel! :-)

It makes me feel so much joy in my heart seeing them, oddly enough. Especially the BSG one, even though I know these actors are still friends with each other and hang out all the time whenever they get the chance to. But it's just nice seeing them being recognized and celebrated after all these years.

I want that crossover to happen SO BADLYYYY 😱 I know it won't happen but GIVE IT TO MEEEEH!
Renée: Agents of Shield. Skye.rogueslayer452 on June 21st, 2017 07:43 pm (UTC)
I know, right?! Just the very notion of, say, Jessica meeting Daisy would be amazing, imho. It's so disappointing that there are ~rights and property issues and such because the crossover opportunities would be endlessly spectacular.

But nevertheless, seeing that photo made me very happy. ♥

Oh god, I would be so freaking amazing. I feel like their personalities would just mesh so well even though they'd both be like "WTF we have nothing in common". Bahh. I hate ~rights an property issues. Just get over yourself and give the fans what they waaaaant.

Yes, me too! And my little fangirl heart can keep on fluttering ♥

To me it kind of feels far. It's been so long since it ended and the ending left it all closed so it seemed to tell us "let it go". I don't know. I'm not sure I can watch it again with the same passion. And I'm talking about the show that made me a fangirl. But still... Too many things have changed. BSG is more a memory to me than a show that is still out there. It's strange. Sometimes I wish I could have some BSG-related things back.

Renée: BSG. Sharon Valerii.rogueslayer452 on June 28th, 2017 12:19 pm (UTC)
I'm quite the opposite, since I have rewatched BSG many times since the show ended and I have never lost that passion I had when it was airing. In fact, revisiting the show makes me yearn for more of that universe (which is why I get bitter that Caprica was cancelled, we could've had so much more explored, ugh). Though my issue comes from that once BSG ended, it seemed that the fandom gradually disappeared as well. I mean, there have been many shows which ended on a completed note but their fandoms still thrive years later (BTVS and Harry Potter immediately come to mind), and yet BSG seems rather obscure for some reason. Not even on Tumblr, despite the fact that you'd think with how relevant the show still is today that people would latch onto it. And that, to me, is rather strange.
Arkadyarkady_ on July 15th, 2017 12:17 pm (UTC)
I guess it may have to do with how adult the show is. It made us grow, in a way. It made us fangirl and then stop doing it (because the chief, Lee, Adama, almost everyone just want a quiet life in the end, and that kind of gets into you: explore, forget about everyone and everything, just live). Idk. Maybe I'm just rambling.

Randomly - I'd entirely forgotten the song you're listening to (Pretty Life) and it's a great one. Thank you!

I'm so behind on S.H.I.E.L.D. I find I like it if I binge watch but I kept losing interest week to week. I'll see if I can't get back to it because I like the actors. I just struggle to connect to the show for some reason.

BSG on the other hand... I miss it! Those photos are lovely, so nice to see a reunion.
